Default C6 - where to mount splitter support rods?

Anyone have pics of where/how they mounted the support rods that hold the splitter up on a C6?

I'm wondering what and where the best place to attach the rods to on the car side?

here is a pic from C5 as to what I'm looking to accomplish but on a C6

Here's how mine are mounted

Rods are attached to a piece of square channel mounted to the metal bumper bar

thanks for the help on this UrbanNight. Do you happen to have pics with the bumper cover off?

I'm trying to see how/where it attaches to the metal bumper piece. I assume the bumper cover has been cut as well right to allow the rods to protrude down?

I don't have any with the cover off. It actually goes through the lower grill, no chopping of the painted cover.

The square channel is welded to the metal bumper support(behind where the foam would be. ) If you've ever had the bumper cover off the metal beam is the same place you would mount a tow hook...

Found the rods used with mine.

What else do you want pics of... its literally those rods, and a piece of metal screwed on to the bumper beam.. that's it, nothing else to it.

was hoping to see how its mounted to the bumper beam. How it attaches since I'm guessing there isn't access to the backside of the beam to put the nut on it or put a screw into the support rods.

In your case I'm guessing you also removed the foam that is normally on your bumper?

The beam is hollow. You can get to the inside with the bumper off from the ends.

My 08 C6Z the bumper is not hollow, there is a support inside it. Made putting on tow hook a PITA.

I was in the process of ordering some 1/4" rivnuts to go on the bumper to hold brackets I'm fabricating. Plan is to pass directly through and have one rod next to tow hook and mirror on other side?

Pics of other peoples ingenuity would be great.

Interesting. The steel frame cars are hollow. My grand sport was anyway.

If no pics come your way, can I suggest that you go to your local GM dealership and ask for a copy showing what is behind the plastic front bumper. .... actually I just found in my file a copy of what you'll want --# 1Y07-040 shows all your car's parts behind your car's front nose. With this, it is quite easy to see what you'll need and once you disassemble you'll come up with a solution. I used this when I first installed my front tow hook.

Good luck. You can do it!

There are pics in this thread with the bumper off and you can see the support bar.

Great thread there! Those pics of the C5 are a bit different than the C6 Z06 bumper but thank you for posting as all idea help.

For a front splitter like this anyone know how many pounds of force are actually pushing down on the splitter @ 150mph?

Just wondering how much support I need to plan for.

No idea on the actual downforce numbers, but that's the lg splitter, and it doesn't come with supports at all. They were added just because....
