A short history: In 1956, GM made three Corvette SR-2 racers, the first (#1522) raced in the early 56 and then updatedfor the 1957 Sebring race the following Feb. The second SR-2 was chassis #1532, started out with the high fin and the extended nose and the third was a Harlow Curtis look-a-like. The Corvette XP-64, later know as the Corvette SS, was developed by Duntov as race car with the FI and made 307 hp and started in July of 56 and ready for Sebring the following February. GM built a second SS as a show car for 1957 show circuit. The 1959 Stingray Racer started from a SS chassis and was restyled by Bill Mitchel
