Formula One - Canada Schedule on NBC and NBC Sports Net
========================================
THE LIVE SHOWING OF THE RACE IS ON NBC !!!
IT IS NOT ON NBC SPORTS NET!!!
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!
1. THE TIMES FOR THIS RACE ARE DIFFERENT, SO PAY ATTENTION!
2. THERE ARE TWO SHOWINGS OF THE RACE THIS SUNDAY.
3. THERE ARE TWO SHOWINGS OF QUALIFYING.
4. THERE ARE THREE SHOWINGS OF PRACTICE 2.
5. ALL OF THE SUNDAY *LIVE* COVERAGE PROGRAMS ARE ON NBC. THAT INCLUDES:
IMPORTANT NOTES:
AUTO RACING FRILLS LIKE PODIUM CEREMONIES, POST-RACE PRESS
CONFERENCES, HAPPY VIEWERS, ETC. REMEMBER, NBC IS OWNED BY
COMCAST. ENOUGH SAID.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND RECORDING THE NBCSN RESHOWING OF THE RACE
AT 5 PM PDT (8 PM EDT) AS A SAFETY MEASURE to ensure that you see everything
possible. They have scheduled the standard 2 1/2 hour time slot for this. The ONLY
guaranteed post-race show is on the NBCSN reshowing at 5 PM (8 Eastern.)
Given the large time break between to live broadcast and the reshowing there should
be no issues with accidentally seeing the result as has happened the last couple
of years with Monaco.

- THE BROADCAST OF THE RACE
- THE HOUR LONG PRE-RACE SHOW
- The "F1 Extra" show (maybe) following immediately after.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
(1) RACE: The race is being shown LIVE on NBC and NOT on NBC SPORTS NET!!
So pay close attention to the way the schedule works on race day.
So pay close attention to the way the schedule works on race day.
(2) PRE-RACE SHOW: The pre-race show will be shown on NBC
("F1 Countdown") 1 hour prior to the race. That's 10:00 AM Pacific and
1:00 PM Eastern ON NBC.
("F1 Countdown") 1 hour prior to the race. That's 10:00 AM Pacific and
1:00 PM Eastern ON NBC.
(3) POST-RACE: The post-race show "F1 Extra" is normally shown
immediately after the race show whatever time that may be. NBC(SN) schedules
"F1 Extra" to start 2 hours after the start of the race but, in reality, it's always
shown immediately after the race regardless of the clock. The simplest way to make
sure you record "F1 Extra" is simply to add enough extra time to the race broadcast
recording to cover (a) any extra time that was needed to run the entire race
including any delays, and (b) "F1 Extra". My standard routine is to add
at least three hours (!) just to make sure I cover most eventualities.
THAT SAID...
POST-RACE COVERAGE MAY NOT HAPPEN IF THE RACE RUNS UP AGAINST
THE 2 HOUR TIME SLOT THAT NBC HAS GIVEN FOR THE RACE. THEY HAVE
A WOMEN'S PGA GOLF FINAL SCHEDULED TO FOLLOW THE RACE (WEST COAST.)
IF THE RACE RUNS LONG THEN IT'S A GIVEN THAT THERE WILL BE *NO*
POST-RACE COVERAGE ON NBC. IN THAT CASE, IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE PODIUM
CEREMONIES AND INTERVIEWS YOU WOULD HAVE TO WATCH THE RESHOWING
OF THE RACE LATER SUNDAY EVENING (5:00 PM PDT) ON NBCSN TO CATCH THE
POST-RACE INTERVIEWS AND "F1 EXTRA".

That said, *always* go to Montreal *expecting* some sort of shower activity. Right now accuweather says:
Friday = high of 65 and mostly cloudy
Saturday = 67 and "a shower in the afternoon"
Sunday = 67 and "cloudy with a passing shower"
Sounds like old times to me
Assume that you will be hit with *some* rain - probably (a) short, light shower(s). But assume that way and bring rain gear so you can cover yer butt until it passes (which it "always" does (YMMV)) You're right on the river and the weather moves along at a good clip overhead.
I don't think we have ever been to Montreal that we DIDN'T get some rain on us. Usually it's not a big deal. Usually...
HAVE FUN!!!

I use accuweather.com. They have been pretty accurate for me over the years.

Here's the first part of the technical regs. that deal with it:
ARTICLE 19 : FUEL
19.1 Purpose of Article 19 :
19.1.1 The purpose of this Article is to ensure that the fuel used in Formula One is petrol as this term is generally understood.
19.1.2 The detailed requirements of this Article are intended to ensure the use of fuels that are composed of compounds normally found in commercial fuels and to prohibit the use of specific power-boosting chemical compounds.
Etc.
Basically, the oil companies can fiddle with the recipe so long as the defined compounds and their associated minimum and maximum values meet the rules.
The makers have to provide the FIA with testable amounts at each race.
You can read the whole section in the technical regulations which are available from the FIA web site as a PDF.

ALWAYS!
And yes, the outlook has improved as the weekend grows closer. Good. But it also calls for a Sunday high temp of just 61 degrees. So be sure and have a warm jacket available as (again) you are right on the river and and the WIND forecast is a steady 18 mpg with gusts to 28 mph. Be sure and defend against freezing yer butts off on Sunday via a hefty wind chill factor. Think of how exposed you are in the bleachers.
Smart. There are few (any?) great photo op spots that don't require big lenses so have the ability to get good memento shots and enjoy the event NOT looking through a viewfinder.
You'll have a good time. Montreal is really nice.

No fancy cameras, but 2 phone cameras.

Z,
Just got back into town; once again thanks for keeping us up to date on the coverage hunt!
Every time F1 goes to Montreal it reminds me of Robert Kubica. Anyone know what he's up to? Last I heard he was having financial troubles staying in WRC.
Have a good one,
Mike

A quick look tells me only that he's currently competing in the WRC but there is precious little info on my first pass.
For those of you who have never seen it (or want to remind yourselves):
