Default R888's on a daily driver

Can I expect a year of use out of these from a daily driver? No burnouts or doughnuts. Just hard street driving.

There are too many variables to say for sure whether theyll last a year, but yes you could drive them every day (many non vette folks do it) however they will likely heat cycle out over the year and lose some of their grip before you wear the rubber out.

That works. I have no problem replacing tires every 8 to 12 months as soon as they start to get hard. Call it a $100 a month fee (ballpark) to always have sticky tires. Totally worth the cost.

You don't mention how many miles a year you put on the car. I'm on NT01's but only do about 3k mi /year and the tires never see temps below 40°F.

Cycled out R888s still felt like totally decent on-the-street tires to me. Even though they were extremely bad on the track.

My theory is that cycled out R888s do not like heat at all - so on the street they are okay, on a first lap on a track they are passable, then on subsequent laps they're total junk.

I do about 12K miles a year. If I can get 8 to 10K miles out of them, I'll be happy.

That should be quite doable.

I have run those and the NT01s for summer tires on my 911 turbo get about 5000 on the rears seem to get a bit better with the NT01s then the R888s. My favorites were the Toyo ra1 for a street dot but they only make them in one sizes now.

I just went ahead and ordered some R888's. Only one way to find out for sure how long they'll last, right?

Realize that R888 tires are not great in the rain.
On wet pavement, they are OK,

BUT

If it is RAINING.... be careful.

2 weekends ago, we headed out to our local autocross site,
and it was RAINING quite hard.
In fact we had about 25 mm of rain over about 3 hours at our house.

The car hydroplaned so badly, we turned around and came home.

Typically, Texas is always in a drought. It's rained a lot in the past two months but it's a total fluke. It almost never rains here. With that being said, when it actually does rain, I drive like an old lady so no issues there.

Am I the only one that thinks the Rival S is stickier and lasts longer and rides nicer?

The Rival S pretty decent in the rain
They stick when you get heat into them
Still be careful

I'd look at the Nitto NT-05 as a good compromise. I ran them on my daily driver (although it was an SRT-8 Jeep) and was surprised at how well they were in the rain. It's a fairly soft tire (I believe around a 200 tread wear) but yet designed primarily as an "ultra performance summer tire".

Rain is of absolutely no concern. I'd do slicks if they were reasonably priced and would last close to a year. I only care about grip and tire life. If I can't get atleast 8 months out of the R888's, I'll get some NT05's next time. That was the original plan, actually. If the R888's hold up, I'll get a new set of them each year.

*UPDATE*

A little over 2 months of daily driving and I absolutely love these tires. I even like the road noise they make that some people complained about. You have to get familiar with them though as there is a pretty big difference between cold grip and hot grip. It's been raining a lot here lately and no issues in the rain either. My only concern is that they're looking pretty rough after only 2 months. I don't think these will last a year.

Does anyone know if the newer R888R is going be available in sizes to fit the Z06? The R888R is reported to be quieter than the R888. I'm primarily concerned with 18/19 inch fitment not the 19/20 inch. Maybe someone from Tire Rack can comment.
