Default Looking for input on guys who have actually raced a square setup

been doing lots of research on running square setups. (same diameter and size) lots of propaganda out there that you cant do it, but none of these people have actually run it.

now first things first. I will have TCS and AH off. but that leaves ABS.
ive fought ABS bias issues and its not fun. ive also heard horror stories about ABS kicking in on high speed corners and the most inopportune times.

Looking for experiences from those who have actually raced a square setup, particularly C6s.

can it be done, and does the ABS fight you at all. or any other issues.

I ran square for a couple years in my C5. Actually going back to it when I squeeze some 315s on the front shortly. Never had a problem. Lots and lot and lots of guys run square without issue.

Square set up on C7 for over a year. No probs w/ abs. With all nannies off, it can get a little tail happy, but predictable. I like it.

Another no C6 experience response but maybe someone will chime in with the actual experience you are looking for.

As Magister Ludi suggested balance is another consideration.

I have run both staggered and square on a Mustang. Square is no doubt faster on an autocross course but I do have to be aware of possible oversteer on a road course. I think I prefer staggered on road courses. I have had two offs on road courses and both occurred while running a square setup. BUT when I ran a staggered setup I was less experienced so the slight degree of understeer was coupled with driving less to the limit.

I have never NOT run square on a Corvette. They inherently understeer, why would you want skinny tires up front?

Been racing corvettes for years. C4, C5, and C6. I have been using the same C5Z rims since my C4 days...

Soon as I wear out my 315 fronts I'll probably run a 345 square. Might have to flare the fenders some, but it'll be worth it.

Curious what set up you're running (wheel & tire)?

Man, that's a lot of tire. Why do you feel you need that wide a tire? I race on 275 square.

More tire = more grip. If they made wider tires that were as readily available, I'd run those.

C5. 275/35/18 square, conti slicks. TC/AH off, ABS on. No issues.

I did run some laps my first event with the nannies on (it poured most of the event but one of the last sessions started to dry out, forgot to turn off the nannies). I could feel the computer trying to fight me in certain sections. Might have done the same even with staggered tires tho.

305 square on a C6 base, you can't fit more tire under it without flares/wide body. The ABS is never perfect in the car (trail braking tail wagging) and it can still go into ice mode, but overall it's very good. Watch out if you lose the wheel speed sensor you'll flat spot tires very quickly until you figure out which wheel speed sensor is bad. I use an AIM Solo DL connected to the Can Bus to datalog and monitor wheel speeds.
