No surprise here, Ferraris and Fords way ahead of everyone else after Practice 1 on pace after the recent roundd of BoP. Seems like everyone but the FIA knew Ford was sandbagging. Will be interesting if the other teams can close the gap some with setup and such. Next practice is at night in a couple of hours.

And here's the AM category since there are two Corvettes there.
The next 3 practices are also qualifying, so we'll see how that goes, not sure who will bother with fast laps tonight versus just getting a night setup down...

Corvette Racing normally makes sure the drivers are pretty quiet publicly about BoP. Tommy Milner may have missed this week's memo, but as noted, we all know it:

The French have a soft spot for our friends at Ford....
Of course, this race goes not just to the swift, but to those who can stay swift for a full 24 hours....

Still 40 minutes left in the first practice/qualifying session, but Ferrari and Ford have 3.5-4 seconds on the others. Huge disparity, and a big miss. Will be 2 separate get-pro races. One for all the cars that start with F and one for the others.

Just remember the Peugeot vs Audi a few years back. The French team was several seconds a lap faster. Remember who won? P1 and P2 if i am not senile with my memory.
Wasn't Toyota much faster the last few years, also?
I love that Ford is back, i just find it hard to root for a 6 cyl car that sounds like a long fart when there are yellow cars that shake the earth going by.

Except by allowing 4 GT's to race in the same class (lol) they're still ok with up to 3 of their cars not making the full 24 hours

So here's the first qualifying session. The 7 F cars are a quite a bit ahead. What might be more disheartening is not their fastest laps, but how easily they seem to be able to set times faster than the fastest of the other cars. The Fords seem to be running 55's and 56's on the laps they are not even trying to set qualifying times...

Here's an interesting GTE BoP article. Basically, they're calling Ford out for sandbagging to get the BoP breaks.
http://www.dailysportscar.com/2016/0...-gt-field.html
It does say that they can change the BoP up until Friday so there's plenty of time to modify things.
