Default Anyone put floor mount pedals in a C3?

I want to put Tilton floor pedals in my new to me 69 race car. Anyone tried the floor mount style to avoid all the complexity of the hanging pedal with the C3 firewall. Thanks for any insight!

Not sure you'd have the room plus you'd have to build a reinforced bulkhead to mount it to as the floor on your car is probably fiberglass. I like the master cylinders up on the fire wall for access. I've worked on some vintage formula fords recently and most of them have floor mount but they have the room up front and a couple of snaps and the nose is off for access.

They are on the firewall on my 63 but not as much room on the 69 and will be in the way of engine work. I found it done on a C4 so just looking for a C3. Will need reinforcement for sure but we put steel there anyway to protect our feet in a crash. Thanks

Cool, I work on a lot of FF's too.

Last summer, I rebuilt a 1961 Lotus FF. The master cylinders had remote reservoirs bolted to the front of the dash with steel lines to the masters.

Couldn't you do a quick mock up out of wood using the Tilton dimensions?

I drive a C4 to take students around the track. Any oics of your C4 setup?

Yes Bill I can but the car is in storage right now. We have the 63 out getting ready for Monterey so just looking for some experience at the moment. I see no reason it will not work with a little fiberglass work....famous first words

I have a vid of you from the stands in 2013 (at least I believe it's you),
But took it with a crap camera and the format won't let me upload it.

Well that's a shame. Would love to have it. Come by this year and let's meet.

Unfortunately, I won't be going this year Steve. I'm putting every spare nickel into my 67 Coupe, I took it totally apart in 1983 and racing kinda got in the way.

I'll only be at the track this year with the Formula Atlantic (crew chief).

I would have to think that the fab work needed to put in floor mounted pedals would exceed the fab work to put in a set of Tilton hanging pedals. Especially since you prob already have a cross bar on the cage you can fab off of.

Tilton hanging pedals may very well be the best option here.

Thanks everyone. We have installed hanging pedals in 2 C3's and it's a royal PIA. In my C2 with a much simpler firewall it was not hard. Reshaping the foot well for floor mount we are in agreement will be much easier. It would be nice to see another one done but I do have pics of this in a C4.

I did them in a C6, there would be room but you will need to build a reinforcement for them. I actually had a aluminum frame I made that it then bolted through the floor with a steel underplate. The underplate was being done just to keep any objects on the track from penetrating the floor so it worked out. There is enough room in the C3.
