Run the Daytona Rolex 24 Roadcourse this fall
There are 5 or 6 HPDE's at Daytona each year - one in April, and several in the fall. It's time to start thinking about registering for an event in the fall if you want to run this incredibly fun track - there's no where like Daytona to turn the beast in your Vette loose!!
The next one to come up is in only 90 days. It's the Performance Driving Group (PDG) HPDE (although there's also a Race Group this year). You'll get FIVE 30 minute sessions per day - that's 2-1/2 hours of track time each day!!!
It's a THREE day event! But you can do 1, 2, or all 3 days.
The event is Sep 30 to Oct 2 this year, so start planning now.
There are 3 HPDE run groups, and the Race group: 100 Instructor/Advanced; 200 Intermediate; 300 Beginner; 400 Race. So there's something for everyone.
If you can't bring your car but want to run this fantastic track, PDG has rental Vettes for you to drive.
So....take a look at the PDG site link below and check the "Events" tab and/or the "Rental Cars" tab. In the Events tab you'll see several Daytonas where you can select the dates and number of days you'd like to attend.
http://performancedrivinggroup.com
I'll have more info about the other events in Nov/Dec as they get closer - I attend them all. Hey - it's my Home Track!!
But the PDG event is a great one, so hope to c'ya at the track!!
Below is an old video from years ago of my C6 Z06 running the Rolex 24 track - you can see there's some nice twisty/turnies in the infield, and the Bus Stop (chicane on the back straight), but you can really turn the Vette loose up on the high-banked sections and down the straights. You'll end up running virtually the entire tri-oval, as well as the infield roadcourse section.
If anybody else has some good Daytona videos, post 'em up!

Well....c'mon back!!
They haven't had HPDE type fun track events at Daytona except for about the last 10 years. Before that all events held were w-2-w racing, so you were probably working at it, i.e. probably racing with a team.
So...now you can do it for fun - and in a street car (convertibles aren't allowed without a rollbar/cage, except for the April event).
You'd really enjoy just doing it for fun now, so hope to c'ya at the track!!

This year's event promises to be bigger and better than previous years. Having added a race group with unlimited passing will surely entice drivers to register knowing no point-by's are needed.
Saturday and Sunday 30 minute sprint races will also take place.
Can't wait to bring my Daytona Prototype out to run against others who are already registered, and some nice P2 and P3 Prototypes from Ligier and Praga. Some Trans Am TA2 cars, Porsches and Corvette's are all registered also.

I see you are branching out of Florida, into Va and Ga. There is a track up here in Elkhart Lake you should also rent.

So....I think you're also going to need to bring "Henry's Hotties"!!
You've come all the way down here to run Daytona, so I guess I'm gonna have to come up and run your track one of these days!! And I'd love to do it with PDG.

Indeed Bob! Plus, I'm pretty sure Henry knows his way around Road America. Actually I'm possitive he does. I haven't looked at track schedules for Corvette museum and RA, but it might work out to run both in one trip. Bowling Green to Elkhart Lake is an easy one day drive. RA layout is almost a sister to Sebring, but with elevation changes and without all of the crack fill. Okay, hijack off.
As for the 3 day Daytona this fall organized by performancedrivinggroup.com, I'm not sure who the photography outfit is, but if they offer 20x30 aluminum prints they are well worth the money. I have several of these of my Vettes at Daytona, Road America, and Talladega, and I can't describe how clear, sharp, and vivid these prints are. Simply incredible.
I look forward to the YouTube videos from you gents at Daytona.

PDG's photographer will be on hand taking pictures and the best part is they are FREE if you bring a memory stick. He will fill it each day for FREE or if you don't have one, $20 for all the pictures he can fit in one. Same day or at the end of each day. No waiting, no paying. All part of the PDG service.
Since I won't be co-driving with Will in the Hubbell mobile, I will be bringing my own Gilbert mobile to keep him awake. lol It's going to be a fun event with all the sprint races taking place.
I'm looking forward to seen everyone there.
Gates open on Thursday 1PM.

There are discounted hotel rates for this event at the Quality Inn hotel across the street if you are in need of a place to stay. Close to the track and the price is right.

Anyone know what the shift light is in the video in the first post.
I just moved to FL so I cannot wait to get to Daytona! Leaving my home track of Road America is a bit sad but having 3 tracks within a few hours is nice!

Henry and his crew run a great event, I had a blast on and off track driving one of his C5 Z06 T1 cars!

I'm not Henry, but I'm sure he'll chime in!
Butt....take a look at his website:
http://performancedrivinggroup.com/rental-cars/
It says that the fees include registration (but no food at Daytona). If that's correct then it's a really good deal!
Registration for one day of an HPDE at Daytona is usually $425-$450, so if registration is included in the rental price on his site that's a great price.
When I run my own car I hate to think how much gas, brakes, tires, wear&tear on the car all comes to!!!
So, yeah....it looks like you just show up and drive the track!!!

Instructor, Breakfast, Lunch, Helmet and Registration fees are included in the Price – except Daytona, no food

Ooooooh that is tempting. My 17 Grand Sport on order doesn't even have a target production week yet and may not be delivered until late fall. Im doing Spring mountain next month but this is still tempting Henry. So is riding shotgun with you Bob, I'll never forget the 10/10s ride in your Z06 2 years ago.
