We ran HP4 and HP6 filters on the race cars too.
Two things you have to remember, race engines are torn down every 30-36 hrs of run time. Not saying none of us care about filtration but we also have a filter on the return side that is far far more fine than the spin on filter on the pressure side.

Out of curiosity, what did you use to conclude Fram was the right choice for your car?

These were tested a few years ago in a real filter test with different sizes of "dirt" going through them and they tested at the top of the heap along with Amsoil's Ea line of filters. With the higher end filter media, you not only get great micron filtration but good flow....something that is hard to do with the old fashion paper technology.
Here is the link to the oil filter test.....somebody went to a lot of work to do this. Take it for what it's worth, but it is far more informational than anything else I've seen. Cutting a filter open to measure the filter media only goes so far. This test brings up some interesting questions and provides a lot of interesting answers:

If I remember right they wanted to use them for just shear flow. Like I said we have two filters on the car, pressure and return both and for an engine that is only going to run for hrs, not thousands of miles....it doesn't so much matter it catches every thing but it does need to supply as much oil as it can without restriction.

Not all Fram filters are equal....here is what I use:
