Fuel Tax Refunds in Virginia for Racecars
I stumbled across this and figured it may help some folks...
According to the dmv you can get a fuel tax refund for fuel purchased for the purpose of "operating or propelling vehicles used solely for racing other vehicles on a racetrack." - http://www.dmv.virginia.gov/commerci...x_eligible.asp

Burning Brakes
Saves $0.162/gal, right? @20gal/day would translate to $3.
NC will let you file up to three years in the past. But the $0.36/gal highway tax is replaced with a $0.16/gal sales tax so heads they win, tails you lose.

When I used to burn a lot of fuel in the cruiser (boat) I'd file (and receive) the highway tax refund in Texas - it was a few hundred dollars each year. Any off road / off highway equipment qualifies, you keep receipts, logs, etc. The TX State Comptroller asked for receipts the first year, that was it, just a bit of paperwork but it was with it. I recall it being 20 cents a gallon or so.
