Looks Great!

That's exactly what I've been talking about the last 2 years.

Can you provide details for the fender vents your purchased please.

Also, how did you attach those aluminum louvers to the fender? I don't see any bolts/rivets on top.

Thanks!

They're called PEM fasteners, like small wheel studs for sheet metal.

Only thing I would change is to have the louvers hinged from the back side, and bent down and forward, just like my LG World Challenge hood.

AND have some center support to lock in the vanes, right now someone could just grab a vane, rock it back and forth, and break it off.

I just got my set today. Very sturdy. Don't think someone would spend the time bending the vanes.

The guy that makes these for me says he makes much larger pieces without those Center supports and in years of use has never seen a problem from vibration or Shady people bending them back and forth
I chose "outies" because they help extract air from the wheel well as opposed to an "innie" which will help vent pressure from the wheel well, I wanted active extraction of all the air I could.

My opinion only...I don't think it matters if they are in or out. For aesthetics, i just want them in so they don't stick out.

FYI...Viper ACR has innies on front fenders....and if you want max air flow, they actually remove the vents and just have a giant open hole.

Gee, I wonder why the C6R uses vents then? Guess you know something the Corvette race team doesn't.

Yes but, a diffuser won't do squat without an underbody to feed it clean air. So the underbody is going to come first. I do have these sweet splitter diffusers

I have one of these for now. When I go back to plywood I'm going to get a set.

That couldnt be further from the truth. The diffuser works well, even with poor aero in front of it. Does it work best with flat aero? Yep. Will it still work with a stock corvette floor? Yep.

Race cars are great for design inspiration. But you have to understand that often times they are working with in a confined rule set. So you will see them do some funky things to remain legal. It may not always be the best setup efficiency wise because of the constraints.

To the OP: Great work! Looking forward to seeing more!

Excellent point. That's why on the C6R the wing is so low and close to the car.

In this case, however, the argument was that the vents themselves actually hinder airflow vs. just an open hole. The counter argument was that the Corvette race team uses them, so that's likely not the case.

I'm not aware of any rule restricting vents vs. open holes.

Reguardless, the vents help to laminarize the airflow coming out of the fender as it joins the air coming over the car. If they weren't there, you'd get a bit of turbulence as the two air streams mixed together.

Jeremy is right, that you have to be careful when you look at the GT cars. However, you also have to look at other cars, like the LMP cars when discussing this stuff.

In this case, you must not be able to see the wheel and tire from above. Hence the louvers.
