I've driven the GT350, and it is indeed a very special car. The Flat Plane Crank engine and overall engineering of the car is spectacular.. the feedback and satisfaction you get from driving the car really made an impression on me. It feels better than my previous M3 for sure as a pure driver.

I never thought I'd say that about a mustang, as I considered myself "past the mustang stage" and had moved on to M3's, Z06's, and better handling cars. But the GT350 is not your average Mustang.

For those that have no clue, do a search on youtube for reviews of the new GT350 and GT350R, it had a lot of hype to live up to for me and I can say that it delivered. I never thought I'd think about spending $60K on a Mustang ever, but on this one I am seriously thinking of doing it, even though I could buy the new Z06.

Thanks all for the posts, this is not just any old Mustang variant. Made me go to my movie archives and watch Bullitt last night (for the nth time)

One constant from all the reviewers of the GT350, the intangibles; the sound, the feel, the experience, that is the strength of the GT350.
Oddly, it seems a little slow for what it is. In the Car and Driver Lightning Lap challenge it ran a 2:51 to the Camaro 1LE's 2:54. The GT350 has like 70 more HP and Sport Cup 2s over the 1LE and its Goodyears.
Shouldn't the GT350 be faster?
The 1LE is $20,000 less and is available for purchase.
What are the intangibles worth?

I will say this about the Camaro platform.....she is a heavy pig but those Camaro engineers have done an amazing job making this heavy car handle like a much lighter car. Kudo's to them. On a different note, the biggest complaint I hear about the Camaro is visibility....kind of a PIA to drive in city type traffic conditions.

A great GREAT movie.
It's one of those flicks EVERY guy has to have in their collection.

"Strength of the GT350" it isn't...it's about what the reviewers BELIEVE in (similar to religious faith).

Not necessarily.
GM can rely on Corvette technology to feed their Camaro program.
I would be very surprised if the Ford could match the Camaro on-track in a fair fight.
The Mustang shouldn't have anywhere near the chassis sophistication.

The Camaro SS is 30lbs. heavier than the Ford Shelby GT350.

Here's a couple of reviews, Farah, Leno, haven't found a "bad" one yet.

Leno with Jamal Hameedi - Ford Performance chief engineer - the guy who made the car

From what I've heard this is the best one out there. I've also heard it is one of the best run automotive forums out there.

SCCA (dgill) says it runs in sstreet, or cam-t or cam-s. So I could stay in cam-s.

Your listening to the wrong people. The GT350 is in AStreet, the GT350R is in SStreet, neither are available to run STP, Both can run ASP, and both are in CAM-C.

No problem. CAM-T is for the older cars. i.e. Camaros up to 3rd gen and Mustangs up to Fox body. CAM-C is for SN95 and newer Mustangs and 4th gen and up Camaros. CAM-S is for 2 seat sports cars, not sure why anyone would want to run a Mustang in CAM-S (unless it's a Mustang 2) which has to be there because of wheelbase.

This is a friend of mine GT350R from this last weekend. He's a multi national champion and current STP National. Champion.
And this is my current c5z running in CAM-S. He was about .8xx behind me in raw time on both Saturday and Sunday.

This is one of the few modifications that he's done to the car. Drilled some more adjustment holes in the sway bar and he made an adjustable toe link for the rear so he can adjust toe and is running 305 RE-71r's on front and rear.

To me, the intangibles are what makes the experience. Sometimes the things you can't put a value on are the things that make it special.

Case in point, If I could own any Ferrari under $500K, I'd pick the 430 Scuderia (2nd would be the 360 Challenge Stradale) because of what the car delivers- the best sounding, most unique and raw driving experience out there. Sure the 458 Italia or 488 GTB are faster, but the intangibles make the experience special... and special is more enjoyable.

For the price, a GT350 delivers IMO. I'm almost obsessed with getting one.. it was that much fun to drive.

Very nice. I'd still want the GT350 Track monster over this though. That and the GT500 is right around the corner.
