Default 295/30/18 too small of a sidewall for autoX?

Good morning! I am making the switch to an 18 x 10.5" square set up soon and found a good deal on some 295/30/18 tires. Is this too small of a side wall and will a 1" drop in tire diameter hurt anything? Thanks

Many run 30 series sidewall in various sizes, no issue. Of course the change in diameter will result in a change in final (overall) gearing.

I have found with a smaller sidewall on the rear I have trouble putting power down (less vertical flex), but the turn in and steering response on the front is improved. You may find yourself having to use a little less than your regular pressure in the rears.

That is the size I've been running square on my 18 x10.5's with Hoosiers. I'm probably going to also try the new Toyo R888R in this size since this it is not available in Nitto NT-01's from what I recall.

I also have 315-30-18's in the BFG Rival S and I hate the front end steering feel from them....I think that is too much tire for 10.5"....just my personal opinion. They may be faster but I did not like the feel of the car on the track. On the street, no issues.

I run 285-30-18 square for STU class auto-X. It's significantly smaller (diameter) than stock sizes, which is useful as the gearing in the base C5 sucks (for auto-X). I have no problem with them and the only thing I have to mindful of is speed bumps, as it lowers my already lowered car even further.
