my homemade rear diffuser

That turned out really good as the results show. I'm glad the diffuser worked out as planned.
I do have a couple of tech questions on the fitment. If you ran the exhaust pipe out each side of the rear lower quarter panel, would that give you enough room to raise the entire structure up another 2" to 3" and would it be worth it in your opinion?
I've seen the exhaust done like this on another C5 and it looked good, plus it looks like you could add an even larger muffler for each bank if sound was an issue at the track.

the throat height is controlled by the lowest point of the rear cradle and the bracket needed to bolt it up and clearance for the rear sway bar, from there I have 8 degrees up out back... I can't go any higher.
also, too high will cause a loss in effective down force... there is a sweet spot😉

Can you provide more detailed pictures underneath on hardware and attachment points please?
Lots of people do wood for the splitter/undertray. What do you think about using wood for the diffuser?
Also, for a street/track car, I was thinking of making the strakes detachable, so you can leave the main section attach to the car on the street, and just attach the strakes at the track.

Aluminum T Bar with 4 attachments to the rear bumper support.
Aluminum angle attached to the cradle with tapered spacers, and two brackets coming of the control arm bolts.
Not sure about using wood but, for me aluminum sheet was easier and readily available in our shop. Yeah you could make the strakes detachable for sure.

Thank you.
yes, but not with the Corvette. Only did a couple lapping days on Grand Bend and when instructing at the Trillium weekends on Mosport with the Corvette.
hope to take the Vette to an OTA time attack event next year😀
I co drove 2 races in the Canadian GT Challenge 3hr Enduro and a Canadian Chumpcar race, all on Mosport and in Miatas.
The GT Challenge Miata is a very well setup (full race suspension), 200whp 1.6 mazda engine built by MT Motorsports, classed in GT4.

Question, I've been researching rear diffuser designs. I understand that the exit volume has to be larger than the entrance, but that the fins should be parallel? On yours the fins are all expanding out from the center, correct? Does it really matter? Or is that just another way to get more volume through at a given angle?
And I know someone mentioned it, but how do you think a side exit exhaust behind the rear tire affects air flow?

In my limited understanding it's all about creating a venturi effect for maximum airspeed under the car to create maximum vacuum/down force.
Placing the fins on an angle create more volume at the exit yes... But higher risk of drag... Possibly?
Hope someone els with a good understanding can explain it better for us.
As for exaust behind wheel exit... Never really looked into that. Rear exit was simple and straight forward to fab up.

You're welcome.
Dynomax 24250 iirc
Edit
Just want to add that the mufflers don't make it more quiet only changed the frequency tone for the better. It went from a high pitched scream to a deeper tone. Much more tolerable imho

Thanks for posting up. I've debated doing something similar and exiting exhaust through the license plate area. Mosport is on my bucket list.

As for Mosport... It's my favorite and I have had my share of good and bad there. It will bite you when you least expect it. I now have a plate in my wrist lol
Look into BMW Trillium Chapter events for Mosport weekends
Paul Tracy once said and I quote..
"Mosport has always been a good track for me. It was where I had some of my earliest wins — I wrapped up the Formula Ford Championship there when I was 16. I basically learned to race there, and I think it has led me to where I am today. It is the toughest track in the country and one of the most challenging tracks in the world.”

Really nice !!
What thickness aluminum did you use?
My exhaust dumps out under the passenger side door, so I don't have to contend with any exhaust system.
If I raised the back up to the bottom of the bumper, wouldn't this increase the angle too much?
What is the starting height and ending height of the strakes?
My car is lowered more than an inch (drop spindles) so the strakes would have to be removable to get in/out of the trailer.
Thanks for great information !!
