None yet. Most all my immediate efforts have been on the GT2 car. My race schedule is pretty crazy right now. I leave in a week for the SCCA Runoffs at Indy in a week, the weekend after that I race the NASA National at Thunderhill, two weeks after that the Pacific Coast Road Racing Championship and then a week after that the season ending Trans Am race at CoTA in Austin. That is four big races in five weekends.
The reality is that I won't get a good shake down of the car until November. It is sad to see it sitting there with all the parts, but no driver.

I think this is a great idea and very similar to the spec Z series that has really taken off here at Miller with car counts at 15-20 cars (even on a slower Sunday here today there is still 12) They keep it simple and not a arms race. But I would much rather race a Corvette than a tinny sounding Nissan. Hope it spreads this direction

That is an inspiring post!
I love the in-car video of Clint Pichon's test day at Buttonwillow. It is reminiscent of the best racing in T1 when it was almost all Corvettes. The squeal of the DOT class tires just adds to the auditory awesomeness of the engine sound.

Who will license the racers?

Spec Corvette is accepting race licenses from SCCA, NASA, POC and other established racing licensing groups.
For those new to wheel-to-wheel, but with substantial tracking experiencing Spec Corvette is doing on track lead-follow testing to approve for a novice race license and then full license issued by Spec Corvette. We will be testing for speed, awareness, side-by-side driving ability, passing, and flag awareness.
The licensing methodology is a copy of that which is used by the Super Miata race series that has had great success.

i wish nor-cal would have thought out their rules a little more.with all these spec classes that will be popping up around the country nor-cal will be the red headed step child that won't be able to play with everyone else

Spec Corvette Conference Call hosted at Chuckwalla Corvette Challenge.
Conference bridge call-in information:
When – Saturday November 18th, 2017 at 12:00 Pacific Time
Call - 949 428-5008 and enter code 72237# (racer#)
Press here for speed dial - 949 428-5008, 72237#
This conference call was suggested by Carl Fung, one of our SCCA T1 racers, who reminded us how helpful and successful these calls were in organizing the T1 racer group back in 2010 and 2011. Spec Corvette is a very new group and there are a lot of questions being generated.
The intention of this call is two-fold:
1. Answer and clarify many questions surrounding this new race class
2. Begin the process of bringing together a tight community of regional racers from east coast to west coast
AGENDA
• General greetings and a few introductions
o John Nguyen founder of Spec Corvette
o Oli Thordarson Spec Corvette advisor
• The State of Spec Corvette and the Future
o A lot of new drivers and builds underway
o Many cars are completed
o West coast, mid-west and east coast growth
o The sanctioning bodies for 2018
o Race license procedure, waivers and racing school
o
• The race calendar for 2018
• Spec Corvette in SCCA T1/T2 and NASA ST2/3 (We have invited Mark Smith and Alan Garside of SCCA to join this call)
• Question and Answer
Please advise if you have questions you wish to pose for the agenda or additional agenda items.
Stay tuned for possible new information to get sent out via this appointment message.

We now have our southern California Spec Corvette 2018 Race Schedule formalized. We have enough cars now built in the region to hold races so this series is real here, plus we have another dozen or so in process. Now that task is done we can begin to focus on recruiting our leadership and organizers in the other regions. Discussions are underway, but deals not formalized. We are targeting the northeast, southeast and midwest first as the momentum of builds are strongest in those areas. If strong organizing leadership and build activity picks up on other regions we can reconsider our roll-out plans.
The Spec Corvette Facebook page and race calendar is up and running.

Thanks guys, and best of luck with the SoCal events next year! GSpeed is a great Corvette shop at MSR Cresson near DFW (my home track and shop). Maybe we can get them in the mix. MSR is also a great racing track for NASA / SCCA / PCA races. Lots of open grass runoff if/when needed. COTA is a great track for the pros, but not very forgiving for those of us without deep pocket sponsors (I know from experience).

My apologies to those who could not get on the conference call. We had many more than expected and we filled up the 36 slots on the conference bridge.
The call was successful and much good discussion took place. I'll talk to John Nguyen about having a second version of this call with the same agenda for those who could not make this call. Let me know if there is demand for such a second call next week some time.
Maybe Jim Pierce of Pierce Motorsports is right. He says, "Spec Corvette will be bigger than Spec Miata." That is probably a bit optimistic, but there were 497,000 C5 built from 1997 to 2004. That is a lot of potential cars to build into Spec Corvettes. Like Spec Miata we have a large supply of cars available.
