Phoenix Corvette Wins T-1 at Watkins Glen SCCA Majors Super Tour Race
In cased you missed it, A Phoenix C6 T-1 Corvette pulled off a couple of wins at Watkins Glen Super Tour race...
Fairly big field of T1 cars with plenty of diversity...
Incar Camera showed up on Racer magazine..
You can see it here... BMW was faster, younger and cooler sounding but the corvette had certain advanges going up hills... Lots of grip and torque... Also had fun racing a GT1 car that was way faster in a straight line but timid in the turns...
Thanks to Hugh and Adrian for posting their in car video... My video was pretty boring since once i got out front there was not much to see.... I like it that way!!!

Winner interviews are here.... I have no idea who that old guy driving was... Just got lucky i guess... Great prep and set up work by the Phoenix Crew though. Car was great all weekend... The new track surface was great and I passed over 10000 laps in over 100 events at Watkins Glen since 1978 including a couple of 24 hour races....... Wins number 6 and 7 I think...

3rd gen camaro
They do have highly developed 450 hp 305 v8s in them and run at 3200 pounds so they are quick. Smaller wheels and tires though.

There was more action in those 10-15 laps than most enduro races. Very impressive moves in traffic by both C6's and the M3. The M3 pass in T9 of the last lap after several laps of nose to tail must have hurt the P3 Vette.
Must be tough with other classes that in some cases had what seemed like flat tire pace.
How did it go @ NJMP?

Joe - I noticed from the BMW video that you consistently reapplied braking for the "B" curb in the bus stop after being off the brake, I think before the "A" curb. I usually finish braking at/before "A" then apply throttle almost to the point of understeer and then lift for some trailing throttle oversteer just before the halfway point between "B" and "C" (the Skip Barber approach).
What is your thinking for braking again before "B"?

makes me feel better about going to full throttle on exit.. I am always carefull to get the car planted. Being in front of that snapping and snarling BMW made me want to not throw it away by being too aggressive. Since I have the torque I can get away easier.
You can probably do it without touching the brakes... I am just not that aggressive... Probably getting old..

Fun watch, thank for posting and congrats.
It was nice to see that early hairy looking moment in the transition up the esses from both points of view.
BTW, that old M3 sounds incredible. The fact that those can hang in T1 when properly sorted out really is something... Corvette starts its life as a low center of gravity dedicated sports car, the 3 series has to be a sedan, coupe, wagon, and oh yeah the M3.
I digress, I like cars, not just one make, and having a 330i (my first and preferred hpde ride, for now) and a corvette makes me smile to see that.
