Ideal temps and Pressures for RE-71Rs?
Got a C5 coupe, Base springs, z-51 bars, Factory Z-06 shocks, and Staggered RE-71s on stock wagon wheels. I ran higher pressures for 4 events, went to 31F/28R the rear end was wild, so i dropped the front to 30 and let the rear build to 29 and it calmed the tail down. Tires start to feel greasy over 135F. Felt faster, but numbers say otherwise. Still 5 secs behind the leader in BS and 2 secs behind the meat of the pack on a 60 sec course. Am I on track with tire setup atleast?

I took 1st in CAM-S today with 5 other CAM cars in my class.
C5Z, intake, exhaust, RE-71R 305/30/19 and 275/35/18. I started off at 32 psi cold and made 2 runs that were solid 41 and 40s, and then I dropped them to 30psi all around and hit a 40.036. Fastest in CAM and for half of the event was the fastest PAX time. They had live timing so I kept checking it on my phone.
I'm in Louisiana, temp was about 85ish, high humidity but no rain (lucky us)
Usually I'll drop them puppies down to nearly 26 psi on my last run just to try to slam out a ***** to the wall time, but on my last 3 passes I went to 28 and I was getting more slide than usual so I didn't go any lower. I'm probably going to keep them around 30 from now on. Just my experience.

you have the exact setup I did last year, best thing you can do is play with the ride heights and corner weights on the stock adjusters, trying to get the car neutral as possible and minimize nose dive and body roll, plus more seat time is always great. I run a 275 Square setup on the RE71Rs, if you are pushing them hard enough depending on the size of the course they will over heat and get slippery. I have come off some bigger courses with the tire temps around 160+. I would def. play to the surface in terms of pressures for asphalt I'm usually running 30F/28R Hot but with concrete 32F/30R, but those are just my starting points depending on weather, course length and surface quality. You will know when you have found the correct pressure for that day as you will be able to dive into gates harder and on the throttle earlier with out the rear end dancing on you.

great question , i run 255/275 RE71's on stock wheels on my base 98 -2.5 f -1.4 r camber , 36 front 32 rear , and spray every run at any temps above 70 and still have edge wear on first 1 inch on the outside of both the front and rear tires , if i do not spray the RE71's have less grip at the ends of the runs , i feel if i run less pressure that i will roll the edges more

Melting Slicks
When I went to the RE71R's I adjusted pressures until I was running just above the little triangles at the end of the rubber. I found the fronts liked 30 lbs hot and the rears like 28 lbs. hot. Looking at your pics you are running well above those marks. Also, it is getting time to flip your tires as the center rubber is feathering out (higher on the inside edge than the outside edge). Common problem with the RE71R's.

my reply to ryanman95 thread was to compare other peoples experience with the RE71R tire pressures , i believe that my 36/32 is too high to make the tire perform at its best , maybe my gauge reads high , the tires are off to be flipped and still have 5/32 tread and wore down even except 1 inch on the outside edge , thank you for the reply's
