1st rule of racing: beat you teammate

Burning Brakes
I watched the race on television and was surprised at the poor decisions in traffic management from several drivers. The incident listed above had to be the worst, knocking both of the team cars out of a decent finish.

I bet they don't drive for them next year. I don't see how they still are this year, unless there is something in the contracts.

FI needs Mercedes power...I'm guessing Ocon will survive.
Perez, OTOH....

REALLY poor team management...
If there were no team orders, there should have been. That looked to be an overly ambitious pass from Ocon causing the crash. It's easy to let rage obscure your vision.
My guess too: Ocon stays, Perez unemployed next year.

I think I stand corrected...
On the broadcast of today's practice from Monza it was mentioned Perez brings 30% of FI's budget.

Too much MB HP for Ferrari this time.
The RBs had real pace though.
They should be in the hunt at Singapore.

Not sure how much Vettel's PS problem affected his 3rd place finish...the MBs were a mile ahead.

Perez will likely be back unless they find replacement funding.

It's an unfortunate situation.
Both drivers are very good and bring home the points FI needs.
Management failed to get ahead of this from the very beginning.

I shouldn't have read this thread... I haven't watched Monza yet...
Oh well. My fault. Still going to watch it.
Oh and... SFI has been doing too well to deal with this childish ****. They need to get those kids under control.

Seemed like the bad blood started several races ago after a questionable tire strategy call. Anything thereafter is a management failure to be sure.
I could see this sh*t in NASCAR... do anything to get the sponsor's name on camera! But the cost of F1 equipment and lost championship point $$ probably not worth any 'extra' TV time here.

Mercedes technical staff : major disruption to come in 2019.
Aldo Costa, the designer of the V6 H, will act as the team's Technical Advisor. He will spend "more time with his family in Italy".
At the same time, John Owen, Chief Designer, will become the director of the chassis department, and will only have James Allison, the technical director, as his superior.
Mark Ellis, 54, performance director, has decided to take a sabbatical year from mid-2019. Loïc Serra will replace him.
Mercedes underlines that it will call on internal talent to replace these departures. Is this just another sign that the Mercedes era is coming to an end ?

It is said that Williams adrift could become Merco's B team, closer ties and a direct test return for Merco. In my opinion, Williams' survival depends on Claire's departure and a business plan similar to Haas' approach: it works for Haas ! and at a lower cost ! could be profitable. If Williams does not react quickly with strong measures, it will disappear like Tyrrell.

Who would have thought in 2018 descendants of the Tyrrell and Minardi F1 teams would be the last 2 teams other than Ferrari to win championships.
