I thought the Red Bull Ring was a high downforce circuit? The graphic indicates mid level downforce, but I always thought the cars were running lots of wing there. Either way, some of the announcements sound interesting. I'd love to see Leclerc in the red car next year. The kid is special.

Hi,
I checked, Spielberg is rated medium downforce.
Some information I like to have before the start, especially the position of the poleman :

poleman : on the left of the track
distance before the 1st turn: 323 meters (0.2007 mi US)
loss of time in the stands (excluding tyre change) : 16.1 s

Geeez Louise. What a whiner. I'm not sure what's needed, but more rules specifically about practice isn't even on my list of possibilities.

Also, You can't really win practice. It doesn't matter. And mandating a certain fuel load for practice makes it hard to practice for both race setup (full fuel load, or at least half fuel load) and qualifying setup (very light fuel load). If Louise got the rule he's asking for, he'd whine that practice was useless for this reason.

Back when I was racing, first practice session was a psy-ops opportunity. Especially if there were two practice sessions before qualifying, or when we knew the track really well. Our posted time in the first practice session was never anywhere between 80% and 120% of what we could really do with the car. Although, by timing from a different point on the track (not the line Timing and Scoring used, and not the start/finish line either), we usually had a few laps of real data that only we knew. But the "official" time sheets always either showed very slow times (common), or unbelievably fast times (usually achieved with a certain level of extreme rule breaking).

Not concerned about his driving...he is a competent pro.
My concern is the speed doesn't appear great in the video.
IOW, it's breaking loose WAY too early for a car like that.

Likewise, I'm certain that his driving skills are superior to 99.99% of 'us'.
If I didn't know who it was, from the video I'd say he sucked *** as a driver...

lol

Spielberg 9th/21 :
For Mercedes, new PU in France and important Evos for the pontoons (how do you say in English, the body part with the radiator air inlet behind the bargeboards?) and the rear spoiler. Merco is accelerating its development.

Renault : a new MGU K (2 per season) with more performance and reliability, that last point was the more difficult and each team will be free from the time of installation according to uses and penalties, not on the soda maker's machines at mozart's city, Reb Bull soda society can is based in Salzburg. New Spec C expected for Monza for Renault's ICE.

Ferrari : Kimi openly says that her career might not stop at Ferrari but elsewhere ! Leclerc's breath ? Oh...

Magic button/party mode for all teams powered by Renault's PU since today, advantage of 0,2-0,3 sec by lap (here, short lap, 0,2).

I saw the pics of the Merco's Evos, alot of aéro work on the pillars mirrors, 3 pillars now, the bargeboards and pontoons and the rear wing deflectors.

Steep uphill gradient between turn 1 and 2 (start line)

FP1

Remember last year, the start of Valtteri's phenomenal century, to the thousandth of a second.

The 2 Merco are very fast at the end of the 1st sector, the fastest and far ahead of all with the big climb, a lot of engine power, the new PU works well, very clearly. The new MGU K of Renault is mounted on the RSF1 Team and on the car of Vandoorne

Vmax (Speed max), Ericsson had no aero, light downforce

Noise damage for Vandoorne after going on a vibrator, impressive dégâts.

FP2
Température air : 21°C
Température track : 26°C
Humidité : 65 %
Lot of pilots in difficulty with turn 4
Gasly broke his front left suspension on a vibrator, wow lethal vibrator here, these yellow sausages. A lot of carbon parts left on the vibrators, souvenirs for the stewards track.
Haas well positioned

The big curbs (on the outside of the small ones) are really harsh there, right? I thought I remember seeing something about that over the last few years.

Yes, very hard, in race, it will be a risk. Generally speaking, it is an ''old school track'' , the vibrators break suspensions, wings, winglets, the whole car starts to vibrate and parts break like Vandoorne this morning and Gasly this pm.

I have no explanation for the Renault's poor performance, but the Haas are doing very well. The tyres suffer here because the bends do not allow them to warm up quickly enough, only 2 turn on the left side

Stefan Bellof's 35 year old record, a F1 driver who died in competition (not F1) fell ! this guy was faster than Senna but couldn't find a good F1 team.

Timo Bernhard's lap is simply hallucinating but Merco has just announced that his F1 will not hunt the record held also in Spa by this 919 H free rules FIA WEC, pity for us speed fans.

In America we call them "sidepods." I have no idea what they are called in England. But "pontoons" does get the point across.

According to the latest gossip from the Austrian paddock, Charles Leclerc could well be running for Ferrari as early as next season. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, generally well informed behind the scenes at the Scuderia, Marchionne, FCA CEO, would have confirmed her desire to promote Leclerc at Ferrari in 2019 instead of Räikkö. La Gazetta wrote yesterday that the officialization of the Scuderia line-up could take place in Hockenheim in July or more probably between the meetings of Spa and Monza at the end of August, especially Monza, Ferrari likes to make announcements at home, normal.

The Italian daily evokes a two-year contract, with a salary of 2 M€ in 2019 and 3 in 2020 as well as bonus results in addition.

Just wait and see...

FP3
Yesterday, Hamilton FP2 best time was in...yellow, tyre !!! The 3 compounds quite closely matched here, but the lap is short, and a mistake has great effect on your time, impossible to catch up

V4 ahead Hamilton for nothing, 0,029, promise of great Q.
Leclerc, failure of suspension or gearbox, Max the engine turned off suddenly in turn 4, battery ?
