Have a good one,

Mike I'm working flag station #7 at CoTA and it looks like three (3) days of RAIN to me! Good for spectating, but disappointing for everything else.

I suggest you leave them at home and bring a towel or blanket.

BM73, this is my 1st year too, so I'm not much help. Personally I'd leave them in the car at least on Friday, probably Saturday as well. By Sunday you ought to have a good idea of what works best.

Garrett, we're sitting in Turn 9, we'll work on coming down to T7 Friday or Saturday to find you, rain or shine!

Have a good one,
Mike

Salut les gars !

Everyone is already gone to Austin? Excellent GP for !

If Spa, Suzuka, Monza, Silverstone are for me, the most beautiful old generation circuits, Austin is undoubtedly the most successful of the new circuits. You're in luck!

"reigned"... perhaps he meant to say "RAINED".

I wouldn't want that jackass hanging around either.

You know, F1 backstage is like a theater with killers, villains and innocent good guys! Behind, the scenes may be very ugly, it cost Max Mosley his job...

However, even if some people hate Bernie, let's not forget that he has made F1 what it is today: a sport reserved for a few happy few in his practice but watched planetary. Without him, no Liberty Media today.

What about rain on the track for the weekend ?(I'm not talking about the physiological needs of Bernie... )

I just don't understand why rich old geezers don't just take their accolades, money, and enjoy their remaining years surrounded by kids and grandkids.
Relax and live with the knowledge of a job well done.

I think 2 things are in play: ego and fear.
Fear if they change anything, the Grim Reaper will come ah knockin'.

As of Wednesday afternoon it looks like a 25-50% chance of rain Friday and Saturday, then rain overnight, clearing for the race. Support races Sunday might be dealing with wet conditions.

We're taking sunscreen, towels, and umbrellas!

Have a good one,
Mike

F*ck me.
Like the start of an F1 race isn't exciting enough... now we need some phony bullsh*t extra drama?
How about some pit lane brawls after the race? That's always a real crowd pleaser.

Austin 2017, some modifications :

The vibrator at the exit of turn 9 was replaced by a double vibrator, and three additional bumps were installed after those already at the exit of turns 11 and 20.

In addition, additional TecPro barriers were added to turns 1,4,6,12 and 19 to reinforce the existing ones.

The pilots will have the choice between ultra-strong, super-strong and soft tyres this year, a selection one notch softer than the one selected for the 2016 edition.

In case of rain, we shall watch a festival of the dancers of the rain : Verstappen, Hamilton, Ocon, the magicians.

Breaking news F1 :

McLaren has just officially announced the renewal of Fernando Alonso's contract for the next Formula 1 season.

The British team, which will be powered by Renault from 2018 onwards, will have a pair of drivers unchanged next year, since Stoffel Vandoorne has signed a long-term contract with the team.

No mention of the length of the contract, but I think Alonso will play the waiting game, in case a better place is available for 2019, so only one season 2018 in my opinion. To keep Alonso in the team, McLaren had no choice but to kick Honda out. Alonso is as brilliant a pilot as "political".

To come back to the top in F1, it takes between 3 and 5 years especially with these PU Hybrids. Even Renault, an excellent V8 and V10 F1 engine manufacturer is struggling to catch up with the top Mororists Merco and Ferrari. It takes time, it will take time for the Japanese, if they don't give up along the way like Toyota...
