Ferrari forced to dump Arrivabene:
http://gptoday.com/full_story/view/6...Piero_Ferrari/
For the sake of the team, I think they made the right decision.
Gotta keep the engineering talent if they wish to oust MB in the future.
F1 sees track modifications as a key to spicing up races:
http://gptoday.com/full_story/view/6..._boring_races/
This is an interesting idea, but I don't know if it would work at established tracks (Monza, Monaco, etc.) without pissing off fans.
IMO, the simplest way is to modify the cars themselves.
Unfortunately, the inmates STILL run the asylum in F1, making it difficult politically to get anything changed.
Gasly will drive for Team France in this year's Race of Champions:
http://gptoday.com/full_story/view/6..._of_Champions/
Anybody know what the broadcast schedule will be here in the U.S.?
I've watched this a few times in past years and it's actually very cool.

Time is accelerating at Féfé, normal, it's F1 guys !
Matching sources from Il corriere della sera, il corriere dello sport, autosprint, citing internal sources of Féfé say that the reconstruction of Féfé will continue : Elkann is looking to bring in Domenicali, yes, to replace Camillieri, this to allow Binotto to work directly on the exploitation, Domenicali would take care of some of Marchionne's functions, namely to start soon the renewal of the Concorde agreements coming to an end, a very political job that Domenicali, Lambo's big boss since he left Féfé, knows very well. Incredible if it works, a return to the roots!
According to the final GPS data at the end of the season, here is the power of the 3 engines F1 :
Merco and Féfé were very close
Q: 1030 HP Din
Race : 980
Renault :
Q 990
R 950
Honda
Q 950
R 930
2019
Both Merco and Renault are starting from a blank sheet of paper, Merco believing that it should take advantage of the new increased fuel allocation for 2019 and, like Renault, that the maximum had been extracted from the 2018 block. According to A. Cowell Merco motorist, a gain of 15 HP Din would have been achieved only with the 2 MGUs, without consuming more fuel, which means even more taking into account the consumption of the additional 5 kg of fuel added by rule 2019 by the combustion engine. Very few common parts 2018 on the PU Merco 2019 He said.
Honda: this will be an evolution of the last 2018 engine with more power and reliability...oh... . Féfé? Nobody knows yet....

A rumor but Schumacher Jr could join the Ferrari Academy; FDA from which Charles Leclerc from Monaco came, and start his apprenticeship in F1 by becoming one of the official test drivers of the Scuderia.

My only reservation about his move is CAN RENAULT GIVE HIM A WINNING CAR?
IMO, it isn't likely within 2 years.
Assuming he wants to some day be a WDC: where will he go in 2 years?
I don't think there will be a spot for him at MB or Ferrari...

Hamilton is not a fool, and unless his skill set tanks appreciably; (doubtful), he is not going to finish his career at Ferrari which is a total CF management wise.

Ham V at Féfé ? in a nightmare only, this guy, contrary to Zozo (Nando aka Alonso) he has a very developed sense as for the choice of his teams and a vision of his future: Merco when no one was investing in him with such a team. Ham V has no interest in going to a team under pressure from other cannibals the moral shareholders of Féfé: La gazetta, Il corriere dello sport, the Italian press, a real cauldron where the theatre is Antique so tragic and cruel like in the writings of Sophocles ! He will be Merco's new emblem for decades to come, as Fangio was before him at Merco and Schumi at Féfé.

Koskas was very close to Carlos Ghosn, on whom he was supposed to report hierarchically, the main reason for his sudden departure.
Ricci: Soda maker Red Bull wanted to keep Ricci in its ranks for 2019. The Aussie had desires from elsewhere and wondered if he was ready to sign for another year with the Austrian team. The latter then offered him a two-year contract, and it turned out that the negotiations were at a standstill after that. It worried him to bind himself so much, but in the end even the one-year contract didn't interest anyone. Maybe so much disenchantment was strong in my opinion....probably because of Baku's ghosts but he doesn't say it...

Wolff spells out what Bottas has to do to keep his seat:
http://gptoday.com/full_story/view/6...Mercedes_seat/
Nothing like a little pressure before the season starts, eh?
Horner swears RB did everything possible to keep DR:
http://gptoday.com/full_story/view/6...eep_Ricciardo/
I think there is still some shock regarding their loss of DR.
There is no question RB had the best driver line-up in F1 last season and would in 2019 too.
Both drivers were threats to win any race they entered with the RB car.
It had to hurt RB's plans going forward.
Vettel says Mick Schumacher needs to set his own pace:
http://gptoday.com/full_story/view/6..._do_his_thing/
I think he's right about that.
Besides, the Scuderia has no open seat right now.
However, I'm sure if Ferrari really wanted to do, they could find him one at Sauber or Haas.

Hello to all F1 fans
The Italian manufacturer Pirelli has decided to simplify the situation after last year supplying seven different types of gums to the teams. With so many colours, according to Pirelli, it became difficult to follow a race. This season, Pirelli will only display 5 colours at each GP. This is true even if the mixtures may change according to the characteristics of:
- the track,
- the quality of the asphalt,
- degree of abrasiveness of the asphalt.
The hard one will always be white, the medium yellow and the soft red, while the purple, pink or silver ones are finished. The rule requiring teams to use two different types of tyres remains in place.
During the winter tests in Barcelona, 18-21 February and 26 February-1 March, drivers will be able to test the five types of rubber offered by Pirelli for this 2019 season. Green remains associated with intermediates and blue with rain tyres.
Capped budget: FIA-Liberty and the teams are moving towards an agreement with a gradual increase from :
186 million in 2021,
160 million in 2022,
135 in 2023.
Merco, Féfé, Mc and the Austrian cans for pimply teenagers in need of virility supposedly given by the drink are already OK, budget excluding engine excluding drivers' salaries and some senior managers, excluding marketing ; in short, nothing very restrictive in my opinion and nothing unavoidable when you are a large group with many subsidiaries. For the time being, it is a working basis.
Registrations to start F1 races hurt the pockets, not surprisingly and in view of the FIA registration rule with a fixed amount of $546,133 plus $5,459 per point scored but $6,553 for the world champion team: Merco scored 653 points in 2018, or $4,838,348 for the Silver Star. Williams can thank his engineers as well as Stroll and Sirotkin for the economy, because thanks to their talent, this team will pay the lowest amount : $584,346

"Versenna just bolted a set of Softs on, and they're only going to last 20 laps this week. Last week the softs would last 40 laps, but you know this is Compound 3 instead of Compound 2 from last week, so that's why they last a shorter period of time." For the casual fan that tunes in twice a year or whatever I guess this now makes sense, as it's red, yellow, or white, and nothing more. It wasn't difficult, IMO, to keep track of the different colors, but now the Soft 1 week might work on 1 car, but then the following week, the same car will struggle on the "same" tire because it's actually a different tire. Why Pirelli, why?
