Liberty puts forward its blueprint for the future:
http://gptoday.com/full_story/view/6...on_for_future/
Some numbers on Liberty's proposal:
According to Auto Motor und Sport, Liberty is intending a $150m budget cap but this would not include driver salaries or key executives or marketing budget.
The cap would be introduced in two stages for the benefit of the bigger teams which would clearly have to lay-off staff.
Liberty claims the redistribution of the prize pot will leave the teams that much better off that even the smallest will only need to raise around $30m in sponsorship in order to reach the $150m limit.
Ferrari would continue to receive a special historic bonus but this would be reduced from $100m to $50m, while all the engine manufacturers would receive a bonus understood to be in the region of $10m.
While the teams, most notably Ferrari and Mercedes, have yet to react, it is understood that the proposals, which have the full support of the FIA, are not up for discussion but rather 'take it or leave (it)'.
Interestingly, in the moments following the presentation, Toto Wolff and Niki Lauda were seen in earnest discussion with Maurizio Arrivabene in the Mercedes hospitality unit. Oh to be a fly...
In terms of the engine formula, with the manufacturers offering no alternatives it would appear that Liberty will stick to its initial proposal which saw the standardization of more parts, an increased rev limit, a relaxation of the fuel limit rules, a stronger MGU-K and the dropping of the MGU-H.
http://gptoday.com/full_story/view/6...0m_budget_cap/
I think these ideas are a big step in the right direction.
What say you??

2 drivers were brilliant: Kimi and P. Gasly
Since Barcelona, for what will perhaps be his last season, Kimi is at ease with his car and is ahead of V4, still the favourite of the Scuderia, we saw that in race in Melbourne. Kimi : released an unsafe condition, even the Scuderia has wheel nut problems, not that Haas, maybe the problem comes from the same cause : Ferrari and Haas use the same nuts.
Gasly puts his partner 1.7 seconds ahead of Nando !!! wow. hamilton seems to have problems with the rear gear adjustment but in race rhythm with Ferrari, the times are the same, MB AMG have to find speed for the Qualif.

I don't understand what it's hilarious to see a competitor with a knee down and hands tied to fight, even if it's not your favorite. I'll never understand but...pues...mais bon... .
2nd thunderclap in Sakhir, rumor is building and Leo Turrini, very close Ferrari, an F1 expert in Italy confirms that Ricci is about to sign an agreement to join V4 in 2019. Ricci sent a letter of intent to Ferrari following RBR's ultimatum to give its position in May. Sainz would be taken over by Renault in this case. V4, 200th GP this we, won't laugh with the Aussie by his side

It'll be interesting to see how Hamilton sets up qualifying in Q2. Maybe change up his initial tire selection and run a long stint first.
It'll be interesting, for sure!
Have a good one,
Mike

I think that's what we should do, make the 1st relay last as long as possible and end up on SS with a light tank. But will they have the audacity to do so ?

Read on a French F1 site. Unbelievable the power of the Big 3. Pirelli will modify its tyres on the tracks where the asphalt has recently been redone, following a proposal from Mercedes whose tyres tend to wear out quickly. Mario Isola of Pirelli explains that the changes would have been made anyway.
"The new asphalt is softer and produces more grip, which leads to overheating," explains the Italian.
The rubber layer will therefore be reduced on the tyres at Barcelona, Castellet and Silverstone, so as to save weight for the car. The other teams should agree 70% to change the structure of the tires, but Pirelli uses the argument of safety and urgency, which annoys the other teams.
"We have no problem with blistering," said a McLaren employee. Daniel Ricciardo also confirmed that the RB14 is "smoother with tires than the Mercedes''.
Finally, an anonymous team boss (perhaps a Mercedes engine customer ? lol) would have summed it up even more simply : "Why should we change the tires if the Mercedes has a problem?"
Yes, why ?

I think that at the time of FP2, Hamilton knew about the gearbox, that's why he used in my opinion the hardest tire in Sakhir, the M. We're evaluating the possibility in my opinion to make a single pit stop here to allow him to climb back up
FP3 begins

FP3 As usual now, Raikko is ahead Vettel and even everyone. Mercedes overheats their rear tires. The Renault engines work well for the moment, on the other hand it is worrying for the Williams VS Sauber !
Concern also for Vettel's ICE: perhaps another coup de théâtre in Sakhir ? We're going to know soon with the Qualif.

Confirmation of the strategic option of yellow tyre for #44, in yellow soft, Ham is ahead Raikko in SS.
Incroyable Gasly 9th , Ocon 10 ahead Perez and in Q3

Super V4, new absolute record here for his 200th GP, first line totally RED, Gasly 6th too much with the grid penalty of Hamilton 5th...
Q3 Another view with the tyres : Hamilton will start tomorrow with S, in yellow tyres
