Anyways, I heard Buxton is doing his charity bash again on Thursday, so I'm going to try and hit that up, because usually he can pull a driver or two there.
FINALLY we are going to find out about the new 2021 engine spec at the end of the month:

Budget cap won't happen. Ferrari will threaten to leave, and this probably will go away because F1's relationship status with them is: "It's complicated"

Ferrari without F1?
I can't imagine Maranello actually pulling out...
The tifosi and the Italian press wouldn't stand for it...Ferrari is the pride of the nation.
If it was me, I'd call their bluff.

I agree. They should call the bluff. The Bernie era is over, so I could see them doing it (calling the bluff). Red Bull and MB have done a great job over the years and if you make the sport more attractive you can easily supplement the lost fans.
Also, guys like Max Verstappen prove new drivers can pull fans in and not the team.

Bonjour Messieurs !
Here is the new track of the circuit of the GP de France F1 in june 24th 2018. The GP of France returns to the calendar after a very (too) long absence. It was raced at Nevers-Magny-Cours last time in 2008. Massa was the last winner on the track of Magny-Cours and Prost on Le Castellet Paul Ricard, 1990.
The Castellet Paul-Ricard circuit also hosted the F1 before Nevers-Magny-Cours. Then, it was a test circuit for endurance and F1 under the name of HTTT (High Tech Test Track) with sprinklers for rain simulation, it was not difficult to bring it back to F1 standards. It is located on the Côte d' Azur (French Riviera), one of the most beautiful regions of France. I had the honour of doing a few laps on this circuit with my C5 in 2006, it is unforgettable, especially when you lost the brakes in a turn... . Pilots will be able to reach a maximum speed of about 345 km/h, in the Mistral straight line, before the chicane. Some of the current curves will be modified to be two at the same time. Here is the definitive track for June 2018 race

Niki Lauda makes a revelation.
"We also had a spark plug problem on one of our Mercedes the morning before the race in Suzuka (it was on the #44...). And, with the permission of the FIA, we were allowed to change it. In Vettel's case, I think the problem was more serious than just a spark plug problem," said the non-executive director of Mercedes.
Blaming its supplier (NGK) in order to avoid another crisis in the Italian press? That's what Lauda clearly means...

Sunsalem,
I gotta be honest: that thread reads like some kind of college intramural soccer game. The threads we've had over here get into a lot more, shall I venture "mature", subject matter?
We disagree, debate, acknowledge better arguments, etc. Didn't really see that over in OT.
If everyone goes over there I'll follow, but I like your original plan better.
Have a good one,
Mike

It seems that Honda put pressure on Helmut to free Gasly from the COTA for the SuperFormula final in Suzuka (Honda has been looking since 3-years a victory against sworn enemy Toyota). Sure, Sainz at Renault, Kvyat will be driving but for the moment STR has not announced any driver with Kvyat. We're talking about Buemi (but Buemi ex RBR junior is in WEC with Toyota...), Giovinazzi, Leclerc, Button (???), Newgarden... It's a very complicated situation for the team, which justifies, a posterior, the loan and not the departure of Sainz for Renault. what a mess! to be continued.
Kubica? I like him, but he didn't go through the hybrid PU era. It can hold a race but a whole season? I don't really know and it's a risk for a team because in the middle of the peloton, the places are expensive, every point represents money. If I were in charge of a team, despite all the sympathy, I wouldn't take the risk because there are promising youngsters. Renault, in my opinion, used the Kubica icon to advertise itself in marketing, even if his times were honest but we don't know the level of gas it was carrying.

F1 Racing magazine has launched its online voting to decide the winners of its annual Formula 1 awards, and you can have your say on each category.
Last year nearly 100,000 fans took part in the vote to decide the winners across nine categories.

Anyone can participate in the vote, covering driver of the year, car of the year, qualifier of the year, pitcrew of the year, overtake of the year, rookie of the year, drive of the year and finally team boss of the year.
Be quick to have your say as the winners will receive their awards at this year's Brazilian Grand Prix and the results will appear in a forthcoming issue of F1 Racing magazine. Voting closes on Monday 16 October.

But I couldn't remember some of the incidents on track.

Regarding Williams next year: Kubica absolutely deserves another chance. Older guy, which will please Martini, as they don't want two kids driving for them. Kubica also brings exposure and I bet sponsorship dollars. When fans come out for your testing session you know you got a following.

It would be a tremendous story for the sport.
His horrible injury changed how F1 teams and drivers thought about moonlighting in other series.
I remember how great he was WITHOUT a Tier 1 car.
If he can get it back, Williams would be in a great position to move up.
IIRC, right before his injury there was a lot of talk of him going to Ferrari.
If it had happened, he might have become a WDC...he certainly had the talent.
