He is the non-executive chairman of Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport.

I read that as "non"-executive chairman, a position that is titular only and carries no weight as pertains to MB. A figurehead, a mouthpiece, almost a mis-direction position.
In any case, I don't see MB or Ferrari leaving F1; as you mention it's just the F1 politics of contract negotiation. I hope Liberty sticks to their guns; F1 will be better if they do.
Have a good one,

I think I parsed that title differently than you (and maybe most folks). I *think* you read that as "non-executive" chairman, a position that isn't at the top but does have some authority.

There is no question in my mind Ferrari will stay.
As much as F1 needs Ferrari, the team needs them in equal measure.
Italy would come unglued if Maranello decided to leave.

Eliminating Blue Flags?

Holy crap would this open up a controversy during race weekends!
Just imagine the possible on-track scenarios.
Grosjean takes on the British Press:

What is more historical than the French vs. the Brits?
Hamilton retiring?

If LH wins the title this year (or maybe even not), it wouldn't surprise me if he retires.

I'm against it. Brings in WAY too many chances for customer teams to directly affect racing between the top teams.
Oh, SHUT UP ALREADY. Call the Waammmbulance.

The GP starts on Thursday in Monac', since 1950. On Friday, no F1, just a GP2 race in the morning to return the streets to traffic and allow the jetset to buy Monaco. This is the only GP that runs from Thursday to Sunday. It must be understood that Monaco is a label and a commercial enterprise, a rock where the only possibility of extension is to fill the sea, which they do with greed and without shame for Nature. All the important trade belongs to the SBM, Société des Bains de Mer controlled by the princely family, I am not talking about Prince Louis II, ...you can discover this on the web if you want, it is History but a troubled history...
The tunnel is a pretty special place after the Loewe curve (now Grand Hôtel curve, before le portier curve), those who drove or walked in Monaco know what I'm talking about: in 1985, I went through this tunnel at 180 km/h in the middle of the night, at the time, there weren't all these cameras yet, the pilots are going to 280 in exit ! there's a world in between. La rascasse (a restaurant just before the pit entrance) is an ideal place to overtake, I remember Jules Bianchi's exploit on Koba there, before Anthony Noghes curve.
Mercedes and other teams have requested clarification from the FIA regarding the oil. It would seem that it is against Ferrari which exploits a grey area of the regulation by considering that the 0.6 litre of oil does not concern the turbo. The FIA replied that turbo is included in the 0,6 litre/100 km oil limit. Ferrari would use the turbine and compressor seals to voluntarily allow oil to pass through the engine combustion according to indiscretions. Lauda reminded Whiting to look at the 4 Méga Joules of the Ferrari battery which would use a resistance to deceive the FIA sensor on this subject: there is atmosphere in Monac'.

Any early word on how well the Hyper-softs are going to work?
I'm going to the NCM with our Corvette club this weekend, so the DVR is getting used A LOT! Monaco, Indy 500, CocaCola 600, woo hoo!

This year, as well as making their entire range of tyres one step softer, Formula One’s official tyre supplier will give the Hypersoft tyre it’s Formula One debut. The pink-walled tyres have been seen in testing before now, but these tests have been done on circuits which will never be allocated the softest tyres.
“We’ve tested the hypersoft in Abu Dhabi and Barcelona,” said Mario Isola, Pirelli’s Head of Car Racing, “of those two, Abu Dhabi is a better comparison to Monaco and there we saw that the hypersoft was worth about a second per lap than the ultrasoft; so we could see some more records broken this weekend.”
The likes of Red Bull, Williams and Renault have selected the maximum number of hypersoft tyres for this event, suggesting that they believe the Hypersofts will be more than durable enough for this weekend.

I'll be flying out to Maranello Friday to pick this up:

Thanks, we're doing our best. Just got checked into the hotel...tomorrow is lead/follow laps at NCM Motorsport park, "non-competitive" go-carts, and a minor amount of bench-racing.
Hey, an Italian Corvette!

FIA placed sensors this weekend on both Ferrari to measure the power delivered over a lap by their batteries.
FI is about to be acquired by drink maker UK Rich Energy.
Private visit of Fernando Alonso and Flavio Briatore at the Scuderia, this Wednesday in the motorhome Ferrari...wow...
PU update :
Merco's reliability is real, just look at the use of the factory team and Merco customers, Merco's drop in power against Ferrari is due to the search for reliability Renault too is well but Ricci is in danger.
New specs for Ferrari's customers at Monac' :
Haas, Sauber have new PU, Turbo, MGU-H (all those, 3 by season). The new specs Ferrari are scheduled for Montréal Canada. I think V4 (Vettel) should be the only one to benefit this new spec because Raikko is used now his 2nd PU at this time since Espagne...
