Default 10-12 track days out of cup2's?

I was reading this on Tirerack...1st review from Syracuse (any of you??)

says he gets 10-12 track days out of the cup 2's?? Is that possible??

I have done 4 track days on mine..have about 3k miles on the car itself... think I can do another 3 or 4? Guess I will have to look at em on a lift... I have the race alignment

Ive already done 2 oil changes to 15w-50 and went through a set of pads ..17 grand sport coupe, z07

It all depends on how you drive. I'd be ecstatic to get 4 days out of a set. The other thing is once they start to go you tend to slide the tire more, that just speeds up the wear and before long they're dust.

yea thats what i figured... I can already feel my grip dying off... but not so terrible.. if there was another track event this year that I was going to, I'd use em 1 more time... otherwise they will be in my cold garage all winter (occasional drives maybe once a week or so)... think the cold will wipe them out over the winter?

This is the link btw to that review

Initial Review:
5,000 Miles on Tires
August 18, 2017
I have about 3, 500 street miles on these tires and 1,500 track miles with my Z07 track car. I don't care for them on the street and opt to use Super Sports there. On the track as I have told others these tire have grip till there dead! I can usually get 10 to 12 track days from a set. Proper suspension alignment is critical to there life. To little camber and the edges will give up quickly. Proper camber and wear will be as it should across the tread and even. Most of the time I cord them in the center before the outsides. It takes only a lap to get them to operating temps for max grip. I like the ability to drive the car to and from the track with confidence of the run flats. 2 thumbs up !!

If they still have tread on them I'd give them a shot in the Spring. Sure, they'll be past their prime but who can afford to always run sticker tires?

I ended up buying a second set of 18" rims because I was throwing away slicks after 2 days because I knew they wouldn't make it two more days. Not I can use them for that last 1/2-1 day and throw on the next set.

As an aside on wear vs driving style. Somewhere on this forum I posted that I was getting 35+ sessions out of Hoosiers on my C6Z. Looking back on it now, I had no idea how much I wasn't pushing the car. Once you get close to the limit all the consumable costs go way up.

I got 10 days and about 1000 street miles out of a set of Cup 2's, but I haven't learned how to push them to the max like Sean.

Yea that may be my issue... maybe Im actually getting better? lol..

What 18" wheels can clear the Z07 CCB rotors and calipers?

I see the Toyo R888R are so close to a size that'll fit the rear Z07 wheels.. 325 20" vs 335 (I dont want to go smaller contact patch)

I agree we don't want to go narrower in width, but would it make some sense if we are going to a stickier track tire that is much more affordable... such as R888R or NT01? I'm trying to not break the bank here. Not going for ultimate times, just affordable track days.

CCW, Finspeed, and Forgeline all make 18" rims that will clear the CCBs. I just bought a set of Forgeline GA1R from Gerry at CW4L. Forum vendor, great service, and great price. Highly recommended.

I want a more affordable option on the track tires that isnt really much slower than the cup2 tires

I dont think the r888r's have sizes thatll work on the grand sport for me...

they super expensive? I always look at how many sets of tires vs the cost of sep rims w/track tires, and how long those last in comparison...not sure it'll ever even out?

I am going to run Nitto NT01's on C6 Z06 wheels, 275/18F and 325/19R. One size smaller in width and diameter. I'm hoping this turns out to be a good compromise.

C6 z06 wheels fit on a c7 grand sport and clear the carbon ceramic Calipers and rotors?

Oops. No sorry they don't fit over the ceramic brakes. Still as others mentioned I believe there are 18" options that do.

AMEN!!! The old adage still holds. Speed costs money, how fast do you want to go?

Six days at most with a precipitous drop off after that. They look good but were
2.4 sec slower on an 80 second lap going from 1st to 7th use. Quite disappointing and wI'll not buy again

My wife and I double stint the car in different run groups and we get 3 days out of a set of cup 2s. So call that 6 days I guess if you count the double stinting?

None of the forged wheels are cheap but I've bent 6 stock rims and cracked two of them so I'm tired of buying cheap. Gerry definitely had great prices for a full forged wheel.

What really pushed me over the edge was the fact that I couldn't do a 4-day event without getting tires mounted someplace local. On top of that I was throwing away tires that my have a day left in them because I knew they wouldn't make it two days.

Plenty of tread right? Compound isn't as soft or sticky as was originally
