I'd highly recommend it.

Test video shot with Sony FDR-X3000. No more vibrations.

What are you using for data overlay?

x-25, do you recommend the FDR-X3000R with the remote?

I imagine that would make starting and stopping sessions much easier.

The data is collected at the track by RaceChrono App from OBD-II and GPS transponders. I use RaceRender PC App to bring it all together, at home.

I ended up getting the one with remote, and I admit that it is useful. That said, it's really not that necessary, and you can always use your phone, too, to control your camera.

I can't complement the VIRB 30 enough. It offers great high resolution vids and connects wirelessly to the OBDII. The editing software is very good and is highly customizable. The updated version now has a 'track' feature that maps and times the runs. Here is a brief video from an AutoX event a few months ago.

I recently purchased the VIRB 360 recorder and can't wait to test it this weekend.

No track footage yet, but I recently replaced my G1W-CB with an inexpensive Gitup Git2 action camera that offers gyro stabilization, dash cam mode (auto on/off with external power), and external microphone input (even while charging). The latter makes all the difference, as sounds outside of the cabin provide a far more interesting soundtrack (lavalier mic mounted above license plate). Torque on my Android head unit logs OBDII via Bluetooth ELM327 and RaceRender on my Mac works well for overlays.

I'm still using the GoPro cameras. This was taken with an old GoPro Hero 3 Silver and an external AudioTechnica mic attached above the rear license plate out of the wind. I've stepped up to 2x GoPro 5 Black's this year for front/rear view cameras and will be moving this GoPro 3 to an interior view to watch driver inputs. The GoPro's from series 5 and up now have stabilization built in, so I'm looking forward to that.

Garmin Virb Ultra. I got real tired of crappy battery life and always "fiddling" with the GoPro cameras. I switch to the contoru Roam series, which I love for ease of use, but they don't have imbedded data, liek the VIRB does
