Dragging this thread back up to catch you all up on SLJHMR, GSpeed's lightweight(ish) C5.

(I'll let GSpeed chime in with the car updates, but I'll get you caught up on the racing event side of history....)

I say lightweight-ISH because we've stepped up to TT2 and with more power we don't mind carrying a few extra pounds. For TT2 we average 350rwhp and weigh 3000 minimum coming off track. Big update= car got a full cage so it is now SCCA/NASA legal to roadrace. Wh00p!

First event of the year was NASA MSR-Houston where we debuted MOAR POWER and reaped the rewards. Kinda. This was the first event where the car fought us and damn near won. Late hours at the track working, early hours at the track working, skipping sessions working....yeah, you've been there and you've done it too. Ug.

Short version:
  • Car died on track Friday. No restart.
  • New reman ECU installed. Started once. Not again.
  • Rewire stuff around BCM, get car running for Saturday, no abs tho
  • C5 with no abs is a b!tch. Bias locks at 50/50 and does not tolerate trailbraking
  • I'm a trailbraking fool. Doh!
  • Still snuck in a TT2 win and reset track record
  • Worked on car moar. and moar. and moar
  • Call all lifelines (Danny Popp, Matt Peterson, GSpeed's Corey Brown, steal parts from Ben's C5 at the track, etc etc)
  • Lunch on Sunday got ABS working
  • Went out and threw down TT2 winning time, reset track record
  • Mission accomplished
  • Long version here: http://www.witchdoctormotorsports.com/ch272.htm

No ABS means no trail-brake. Try and trailbrake and this happened to the driver running ST2 that weekend (SLJHMR sharing!):

Porsche going for SERIOUS front downforce!!!!

Had fastest overall time of the weekend till the final TT session where we sat out (to put the donor car back together) and a GSpeed customer TTU car borrowed our A7s (and compared data, and talked lines...) and nipped our TT2 time....doh!

Overall good weekend but fought adversity EVERY STEP OF THE WAY....but we kept fighting and kept our spirits up and ultimately came home the victors.

Next up, CRESSON (GSpeed's home track) and then....COTA!!!!!

Spoiler alert: it ain't all sunshine and roses.....
