Thought it was the end of my car today
Being a moron and not focusing I **** up. Suspension was upset and that was that. Snap, catch, goodbye. Thought I was going head first into the wall. It was one of those "Driver to pit: Jesus has taken the wheel" moments.
Video to come shortly.
Expensive lesson well learned. Stop ******* around and focus 100%.

Fixed your link for you. Glad you were OKAY. Definitely could have ended up far worse. It appears you got on the gas too soon during the corner (I can hear the motor) and were already at the grip threshold of the tires, then the rear stepped out, then you over-corrected. It's almost always a chain of events. Again, very happy she didn't wreck.

almost looks like applying the brakes (instinct) and taking more grip off the already at the limit rears made it worse. what you needed was more grip (duh). the tire noise sounds like you are slightly past the tire's limit.

This was a good ending, no serious drama. And i've rewatched that a bunch......damn. I wouldn't beat my self up too bad over that, could have happened to a bunch of us. Difficult being on that edge in such a fast car. But sounds like you learned a great lesson and with only one panel damaged not too shabby. I money shifted my track S2000 and grenade diff and transmission with a student passenger in car. Even the most experienced person (watch F1) will make a little error that can cost you. Glad to hear your fine.

That was some pretty good driving up until it wasn't. I would guess you were running street tires from the sound of them. I have instructed folks that like to goose the throttle a little before the apex. I have even ridden with some that goose the crap out of the throttle everywhere in the turns. But, not my style and I see no use in it. Sometimes it is just a little too much. The tires were protesting when you gave the rear just a tad too much goosing. Actually, I don't goose the throttle at all. I find it upsets the suspension backwards and forwards. The suspension is much easier to feel when settled and smooth. I teach and drive smooth inputs throttle and braking. You are a good driver and the video showed some good instincts but try to be a little smoother with inputs and I think you will be more comfortable and faster. Good luck with the car repair. Get back on track soon.

Sorry, it's from the AIM Solo.
Thanks. I was driving like dog **** that first session. I wasn't focused, and it was my own fault. I should have pulled off and just ran next session.
Here is me doing some better driving, chasing the two track owners. They're exceptional drivers
I'm relieved because any time you put a 6 month old car into a wall at the track and only have to write a $2500 check, it's a good day to count your blessings.
I'm mad at myself because I wasn't focused. I was all over that session. Woke up late, didn't sleep well and it was just too early. I caught myself not paying attention several times, literally just thinking about **** I shouldn't have been thinking about.
I'm mad at myself because I was WAY off line. I have no damn idea why I was taking that turn so tight. I probably gave it as much gas as I normally do, but yeah- when you're 10ft tighter, this is exactly what happens.
I'm also mad at myself for over correcting. It's an instinct I've been working to develop, but I guess that's what happens when you're not paying full attention- it surprises you.
I deserved much worse; and I'm thankful it didn't end worse.

VI, What setting where you running in? I am assuming sport2 or higher? Just wondering. I run both sport1 and sport2 and prefer the latter. Just wondering if sport1 would have saved you.

Glad you are ok! Learning from crashes makes you faster. I’ve yet to meet any real fast guys , bike or car, who have not found the line by stepping over it numerous time in numerous ways.

It says much about your personality that you can be both honest with yourself and with the others here. I too have made many mistakes over the years racing bikes. Destroyed some mangled many. It lets me appreciate your honest and candor all the more :}

Burning Brakes
Been there, done that, got the ......... no t-shirt, just shame.
It sucks, totally feel your pain, but the most important part is that you're not hurt, and secondly, that the car isn't a total write-off.
I blamed my car ~90% the first time I crashed, and after I gained more experience, realized the blame was ~90% my fault ('02 Z28 ... not the best balanced car, and the rear wheels would frequently lock-up under heavy braking, which I had to learn the hard way).
Get the car fixed, saddle up, and get back out there ASAP .
