Quicker Steering Ratio for Auto-X and Track
Greetings all,
I am relatively new to my C6 Z06 and have only had it out for about five events so far. Car is awesome overall, and will get a lot faster in the near future as well. For today though, it seems to me that the steering ratio could be a bit quicker than came from the factory, I had a 2004 BMW M3 that was WAY worse, but it seems to me that I am putting a LOT of steering wheel into the tight turns for autocrossing and would like to speed things up a bit.
Wondering if anyone else has the same impression, and if so, how "much" faster would you like to see it?
Thanks!
Mark

I know there was someone on facebook that was building some kind of steering kit (for drifting really) which would bolt in between the spindle and tie rod that increased speed and response... it was in testing last I checked, not yet for sale.
As far as racks go, ideally i'd love if we had something like my 335i, electronically variable. The S2000 has that too which is pretty sick. It is very responsive but firm at high speeds. If only someone would build something like that for our cars and not corvette tax our ***

I think it would be really difficult to engineer a new rack unit for the aftermarket, but I have an easy way to address it at the steering arm. Overall, I am not "unhappy" with the response but as I noted I have an easy way to improve it - just seeing if there is a possible market opportunity to move forward.
Thanks!

This is my second year in my C6Z. I don't see a necessity for any quicker ratio steering. I would look into a smaller diameter steering wheel if anything.

This is my first full year autocrossing in my08 Z06 and coming from an S2000 I too feel like I’m sawing on the wheel way more than in the S2000. I’ve often said that if my Z06 had the steering feel and quickness and the seats of the S2000 it would be perfect.
