Default Ride Height

I have a base C5. Installing Z51 springs and C6 Z51 bars. would like to lower it just a bit to close up the wheel to tire gap. Also plan to take the car to some open track days and local autocross events from time to time.
How low can I go with out getting into problems with shock travel or tire rub. I thought about an inch But thought someone would have first hand experience with lowering.

as long as you don't cut or remove the adjusters, I generally screw them all the way down. That's about as low as you can go without causing more harm than good (geometry wise)

Here's a pic of my '02 Z51 coupe that is lowered all the way down on the stock bolts. The front tires are 275/40-17's on 17x9.5" Z06 wheels. The rears are 295/35-18 on 10.5x18 Z06 wheels. No problems with any rubbing when turning. I have used the car for autocross and no issues with hard cornering. But because the car is lowered, I have to be careful with speed bumps or steep driveways Note the gap between the front air dam and the ground; that's about 2 inches!

I generally always made the adjustment all the way down on the stock adjustments. dropped the C5 and the C6Z an inch and looked good. But when I had the C6Z corner weighted for the best track handling it was back up in the air. the looks suffered but it handles much better.

it's more important to have all four corners equal than having good looks...at least for the track. a mostly street car could make that trade off for better looks than handling.

Thanks guys. The tread provided was a good read. I will but it on scales when I get the new parts installed and ser where we are at and adjust from there.
