weird cr@p pops into my head...alternator & A/C
So a large majority here don't have A/C in their racecars. We could get heavy weight low in the chassis and on the passenger side if we move the Alternator to the A/C compressor spot. Is anyone doing that? Sometimes there is a drysump pump replacing the A/C compressor but avid has a solution if you don't want to do that. Another side-effect of moving the alternator is access to stuff more likely to fail like the power steering system and we could ditch part of that heavy bracket too.

I thought you were going to say use the clutch pulley to shut that draggy alternator off, coming off the corner and on the long straights...lol.
Sounds feasible though, what you're proposing.

that’s a pretty common change, for hot rods.
The C7’s alternator is on the passenger side.
I don't know if the compressor clutch would handle the alternator, I would think that a smaller alternator would be a better option (just enough to keep things going)

You are right. I googled it. Here is an alternator relocation bracket for LS motors low on passenger side. I'm surprised after all these years racing this is not a standard C5/C6 conversion when A/C compressors are removed.
