What's the largest tire I can put on a 18x19.5 rim for best grip in the corners?
Trying to mirror a sort of "square" setup here. I'm grabbing new rims (Forgestar F14) and got the rears down (305/30/19), but unsure about the front. The front rims are 18x9.5, anyone know what I can put on there for best grip in the twisties without rubbing?
Wheels: Forgestar F14
Wheel Size: 18x9.5 Front & 19x11 Rear
Finish: Gloss Gunmetal
Tire Brand:Toyo Proxes R888R
Tire Size: ????? Front & 305/30/19 Rear
EDIT: I double posted here not realizing we had a Tire forum! Derp. Admins please feel free to let me know if this is a problem.

tire manufacturers will list suggested rim sizes for their tires. for those tires toyo recommends the 275 on a 9"-11" wheel the next size bigger is a 295 they recommend a 10"-11" wheel

I think a 285/30 is as large as you want to go. Wider than that abd the front of the car feels like it moves around to much. Like tires aren't properly inflated.

In the r888r, it looks like the 285 isn't even a choice. The 275/35r18 is your only reasonable choice. The one question I'd have is one of tire diameter: the 275/35r18 is 0.7" shorter than the 305/30r19. Is that going to cause any problems with ABS or traction control, and what will the difference in ride height do to the handling balance? I really don't know.

I have run the 275/35x18 and 305/30x19 set up for several years on RE71R tires for the last two years without any abs/TC?AH issues. It keeps the nannies happy while driving on the street. On the track the TC/AH is off.
