I can't speak for VIR but I was very very impressed with the COTA one.

To a large degree, it depends on how familiar you are with the track. If it's your first time, I say don't bother. You can get all you need from YT. I looked at about 10 vids that were in replies to a post I made before my first trip there in early Nov. There was more than enough info in them for a first timer. If you've been there may times, wait for replies from others with similar track time there and who have seen the track walk. I emphasize and because sometime last year I bought the Speed Secrets track walk for Watkins Glen. I did not find it very useful at all. Maybe 2 or 3 reference points but that was it. In fact, their suggested line thru the Carousel is outright wrong. Not a matter of preference or driving style wrong, outright wrong, as in slower, a greater distance and less grip wrong. Really surprised me as I have found most of the Speed Secret stuff to be useful (the books, the weekly newsletter, etc.). I have done ~30 track days @ WGI so my familiarity with the track undoubtedly contributed to not getting much out of it. If you're a regular @ VIR, wait for input from another regular that has already seen it. They can tell you if there is enough to be gained to justify the cost.

I bought the VIR Virtual Track Walk, and I highly recommend it. It is 2 hours long, takes you to each corner, show min and max speed, shows elevation and dips, show optimal turning points, landscape marks, provide tips on areas on the track to avoid, and explanation and braking technique.
Some of the braking techniques recommended, like blending braking zones, are for experienced drivers. I only have one DE event, and I haven't learned trail braking yet. I am looking forward to try what I learned.
