For racing it would be the best tire you can get while balancing out any points you take for lower tread wear.

Not sure what series you're racing in but a lot of series have a spec tire, I would consult your organizations rules for your class.

"Racing" or track days?
For track days I like the NT01 for its blend of speed and durability. Although that durability is now in question...
Shop around for price.
Still haven't had much feedback on the R888r...

For a "track day" tire, the Michelin Cup2s are really hard to beat when it comes to the balance between grip vs life expectancy.

Wow, these seem like a great price. I've never run slicks or Hoosiers before... think below is a good start?

I have experience with r-comps but always stayed away from take offs just due to the additional car wear, mainly hubs.

Take note of the weight recommendation in the listing, some of these tires will have been made for prototype or open wheel cars.

The GT tires are likely a better choice: https://shop.hoosiertire.com/index.p...05-650r18.html

I can't find any charts that compare all the different compounds. Anybody know where Conti has a chart comparing the different compounds?

Thanks I saw that too... my earlier link mentioned A7 which I know is a pop compound for vettes, but maybe sidewall is the diff. The G6500 seems could take awhile to heat up, from limited info I could find.

Default Track Day tires

Years ago the Toyo RA1’s were good and consistent down to the cords. Are there any tires available today like that? To me there’s nothing more frustrating than having an expensive race tire with lots of rubber left that’s no good on track. I’m willing to give up some ultimate speed to be able to use a tire up rather than having it time out.

The Toyo RR seems to maintain grip well through its cycles, but I don't think it comes in Corvette sizes. Seeing how it's the go to tire for NASA expect the sizes for its more popular sizes to be what they carry.

The last set of NT01s I used were that good... 2 years and I forget how many heat cycles on my M3 race car, they were still going strong when I sold the car.
Bought a set for my Z last year, 4 fast track days + maybe 1k street miles, still above half tread. I'll do a weekend in March... we'll see if they still have that same RA1 longevity!
