24 Year Racing Career over
Hello all,
My name is Jerry Onks and I've been a member of this Forum since Dial up. I've been in vettes since 1994 and started in competition soon thereafter. I started in SCCA autocross and then moved to track days and wheel to wheel racing in 2006. Dan Popp and I did the OLOA in 2005 with little track experience and placed 3rd overall in Big Bore in my FRC named the black bitch and should have won it! See Tweakit.com.
Anyway, I bought my first real racecar in late 2005 from David Pintaric, built by Reese *** and later updated by Phoenix to C5Z specs.I had great success with that car and learned alot during 4 years of SCCA T1 racing on the Nat. Level.
2009 I bought a 2007 Z06 w/minor R front damage. We repaired the car, caged it and built it for the new STO SCCA class. The class was dissolved and we went to T1 and GT2. I have been campaigning the car since 01/10 and have won three SE Div. SCCA National Level championships, One National Points Championship, Two SCCA Runoffs podium finishes, 3rd STO and 2nd T-1.
I retired from Racing after Indy in 2017. In 2018 I loaned the car to my good friend John Buttermore Jr. He won 4 of 6 SCCA Hoosier Supertours with two second places even though the car was new to him. He also set the fastest lap ever in a roofed car at Gratton Raceway with a bone stock LS7 including GT1!
I've had a great career on the Track and have made so many friends across the country. I couldn't have done this without people who believed in our program. Many thanks to Hoosier Tire, Wilwood Brakes, VanSteel, SKF, Dewitts Radiator, JRI, CCW(John), APR, Yoder Tool, Golen Engine, Graphic Effects, RunCool Race Louvers, Dan Popp, VetteSport, and My Crew Chief and Wife Debbie.
I'm selling my car, truck and trailer. I'll post soon on the forum and racing junk.

Incredible life experiences with the Corvette. What is the next Chapter of your book? Expand operations at VetteSport; building upon performance alignments & tuning?
You have a wealth of knowledge and experience. I hope you continue to contribute to the Corvette performance community; especially for many of us track enthusiasts.

Jerry is one of the good guys that has helped make club racing what it is - a guy who will compete hard on track but will help you in any way he can off of it.
You will be missed for sure - it was a pleasure getting to know you over the years - I'll never forget our overnight engine swap!
Best of luck on whatever you do in the future - make sure to stop by and say hello if you're ever up near Road America again!

Thanks for all the kind replies! I'm not going anywhere and will continue to instruct for NCM. I have new partners in our shop with SKYE performance and i'm working with them on All corvette work. We are installing a new engine in a C5 Racecar as we speak with Daileys Dry Sump system. We have a new AWD dynojet and a new full time tuner as well. We have installed a VanSteel prototype front swaybar for a clients C7 grandsport to see if it will prevent outside tire cording. Still having fun helping Corvette guys! I did post my car in the classified section. Cheers!

You did my engine install in the 86 and 88 a few years back at your shop, still going strong!
