Default Race Suits vs. Other

Do any of you have a good source for approved clothing to wear during HPDE other than high priced fire suit?

Try a set of coveralls if you want something other than jeans & Tshirt
I usually only use mine when it's cold outside

Jeans and a long sleeve tee shirt is all that is required. and close toed shoes.

Here in cali there are some groups that allow shorts and short sleeve tee shirts.

I should add I wouldn't wear anything but cotton or nomex.

This. Just like the jeans and t shirt comment earlier. Personally I have an old flight suit I keep in the trailer in case an organization doesn't allow shorts and a short sleeved t shirt or require my hot *** suit. 99 times out of 100 though I'm in the suit.

Before I got my race suit I wore long sleeve t-shirts, mostly Hanes tagless, just check the label carefully not all the colors are 100% cotton, the grey tones tend to have some polyester in them I usually wear red or dark blue because red ones go faster.

I started wearing an inexpensive single layer suit a couple of years ago. Last year I had a (small) engine fire that entered the cabin through the steering shaft hole in the dash panel. Before I got the car stopped and jumped out, the fire inside was such that I could see nothing below my knees other than fire. I was wearing my suit, Piloti driving shoes, and cotton socks. Fire does happen so be over-prepared, even for HPDE. Single layer Nomex suits can be had for just over $100.

The only time I ever caught fire inside a car on track was the ONE session that I didn't put my fire suit on. Never again.
A $500 race suit is a lot less expensive than hospital and therapy bills.
