Default Hitting roof with helmet on suggestions?

I had this issue in my Corvette (C6 & C7) and now also in my current ride I'll be taking to Sebring next week (Audi R8). Any suggestions on seat positioning to try and get a better fitment in the seat.

I'm not that tall (5'10") but I have a tall torso. It's a SA2010 Conquer helmet that I have I believe it's this one...

I didn't mind in the Corvette back in the day because all I was doing was drag racing. Survive for a few minutes in an awkward position in the car. Now I'm doing multiple 25min road racing sessions so I prefer to not "low ride" it.

Any suggestions on ways to maneuver a car seat to get more head room? I don't think a different size helmet is going to make up that much difference...

Reclining the seat more will give you more room

lower seat brackets and a lower racing seat. They’re nice regardless. But you might need to get belts that work with the seat. Then you’d need a harness bar or a cage. And you might run into airbag issues if you have side impact or if it uses the seat position as a reference for the srs system.

Any creative ways to position a seat without going "low rider" with it reclined all the way back to get a lower head height (assuming seat is already "lowered" to it's lowest height)???

One long term option may be to get a seat out of a salvage car that still has an intact airbag, if in fact it is seat mounted in the R8, then remove the seat cushion and replace with less padding. I did this successfully in a Mazda RX8 and still had a functioning side airbag. Many variables to consider relative to safety.

If the seat has a bottom cushion that's removable, remove it. That helped a lot in my SN95, and I suspect I'll be doing the same in my C5 when I get fixed-back seats.

Thanks for the input. I'll see how it is with seat as is. I don't really want to rip apart the factory stuff too much. I was looking for some "hacks" or "creative ways" to position the seat that maybe I'm not thinking of that will give me just a little extra head room.

Tootallbob literally sat in the floor of his car, had pads only and harnesses. This was at Spring Mountain in 2007.

when i installed my fiberglass racing seats, the "butt" of the seat is literally touching the carpet.
im also 5'10 and i have TONS of helmet room above. even to the left above the window opening.

and thats with the seat padding left in (about 2" worth)

I move my seat forward, as close to the dash as my knees will allow, and then lean it back until I can at least hold my head straight up. Then I slump in the seat and bend just my upper torso forward - horrible posture, but it's worth the sacrifice in leg/lower back comfort to get closer to the controls for me. I was told by a WRR salesman that an Arai helmet was my best bet for lower-profile shell design.

That is insane! I'm 6'3" or 6'4" and while I have my seat back a ways I can not imagine having to resort to anything like that especiall in a C5 lol. How tall is that guy 7'+
