What is everyone using for number plates?
Wondering what everyone is using to put numbers on their car for track events?
Im ready to upgrade from painters tape.. lol!
Everything Im finding is either magnetic which I assume does not work on composite doors, or uses sticker adhesive to attach.
Has anyone found a solution that does not leave glue all over the car or uses a lighter adhesive like the painters tape?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Oh and something that can be reused would be ideal.

Yes, that's what I was wondering about static cling at triple digit speeds... I was able to switch my order over to reusable vinyl from the cling style.
Thanks for the info.

Static Cling Vinyl. They work great if you wax the surface first and clean the back of the numbers/letters with something like Windex and you squeegee all the little itty bitty air bubbles out. They are usually good for 120 MPH+ if you do it right. The key thing is no dust or oil from your skin on the numbers or the surface of your car body panel. The "77" are the static cling vinyl material and have been on the car for over ten years without being removed. All the other stuff you see are the typical peel and stick/transfer on stickers.

I have been very happy with the reusable vinyl number panels that I had made by https://www.soloperformance.com/
This was a custom design, due to the red border being a different color than the numbers, but they have all sorts of options available. I sent them a sketch of what I wanted and they delivered.
I used the first set of numbers for over a year, removing them about a half-dozen times, and only had an issue with them while driving in the rain after one corner started to come-up (the adhesive got a bit dirty so wouldn't stick). The dirty corner was on the leading edge, so the panel started to peal-back a little... I swapped the number to the other side of the car (now that corner being on the trailing edge) and it wasn't an issue. I've purchased another set of panels and will likely retire the originals, but I could still use them if I wanted/needed to.
A couple things to note about the reusable vinyl... make sure the car is clean before you put them on. Also, make sure you save the backing paper and have it clean/ready when you pull the numbers off the car. I think part of the reason mine have lasted so long is that I took care of them on and off the car (stored flat, between sheets of cardboard, etc.). I would wipe the door down with some detail spray immediately before putting them on the car... and would wipe down the panel/door with detail spray before pulling them off. I did notice that the vinyl started to stretch a bit after repeated use, so minimizing how aggressively you pull on them when smoothing out air bubbles and removing them would be a good idea... it only became noticeable on the much smaller number panel that I use on the rear of the car.

If you are getting reusable vinyl I'd suggest getting one of the big single panels with the class and numbers on it like above. If you do individual numbers/letters they'll stretch and get dirty as you try and peel them off and put them on.
The key for static clings are keeping them stored properly when not in use, I had a set last a whole year. In the end though I found it was just easier (and maybe cheaper?) to buy my own vinyl cutter from Sign Warehouse make numbers, use them, toss them, make more.

I may go with low tac next set.
David, do you put those low tack ones "away" on a piece of shiny paper like the static's"?

I stopped using removable numbers this year. Got some nice ones made to leave on the car all the time. Don't daily it as much as since I got a 2nd car.
