My usual go to Pep Boys changed policies and no longer mounts used tires. Got another place that wants $30 per tire. I was paying $15. Who do you use and what do you pay?

Discount Tire is my typical go-to. It honestly just depends on the person and day as to what I get charged but usually between $10-35 per tire.

$35/set. In my humble opinion, balancing tires that have tire snots all over them is a waste of money. I balance the wheels, the just mount the used rubber. Been doing that for 10+ years, never had an issue. On the track we are always accelerating or braking, as opposed to the highway where you are traveling at a consistent speed; so there is no or little opportunity for an out of balanced tire to set up a harmonic in the suspension. Your mileage not vary, just my experience.

You can get a good used machine for $1000 all day long. If you have your own machine you will flip and mount more tires. That's just the way it works. Later I bought the balancer too for another 1000. I do a lot of tires so it was worth it for me over years of ownership. It pains me now when I have to pay $100+ to get things mounted and I mount better than the tire guys with zero race tire slip on the rim. There are ways to prevent that which the tire monkeys will not do. It is worth it to do it yourself.
If you are just doing used tires the other poster is right! You don't balance those just one time balance your wheel.
