Sebring Intl Raceway UNOFFICIAL TT2 Track Record - 2:18.61
I have been chasing the track record in TT2 at Sebring for about 4 months now that I finished my Aero mods. The current track record is 2:19.61. I beat that time several times this past weekend but this was the best time of them all 2:18.61.
This was UNOFFICIAL because the OFFICIAL transponder timed event will be At the October NASA Event where I hope to beat this time. It was a hot day and the tires had 14 heat cycles on them. New tires and hopefully cooler dry weather in October will allow me to put down as good if not better lap time then.

Great Lap!! Congrats. I run at Sebring in my C7 Z07. It's a rough track in a few turns, but I still really enjoy it. I can't touch your lap time, though, so hats off to you. The best lap I've been able to do is a 2:25 on some R7 scrubs. I'm still learning the car and track. Have done 3 track days so far. Hope to do a few more events this year. Was planning on the SCCA event on Sept 1, but the storm (Dorian) took care of that. Maybe I will see you in Oct, if they allow TEs (track event participants) at the event. Good luck with your official track record. Hope you get it. Cheers.

Thanks for the kind words. The NASA Event is Time Trials, Racing, and HPDE. So they do allow DE participants. You can sign up at www.drivenasafl.com. I mostly run with Chin and NASA since I think they are the best groups to drive with. If you go stop by and look for me in the Blue C5 Z06 near pit out by the XP Motorsports Trailer.

LOL. Yeah I had a guy sarcastically asking about my Diffuser and side skirts and asked if "all that stuff helps". He had no idea I designed everything in consultation with an Aerodynamicist. Then he asked my laptime and then he was silent and walked away after I told him. Many (not all) of those Porsche guys think because they buy a fast car that they are better drivers.

Congrats. I don't know Sebring but lap records speak for themselves. Have you looked at your data to see where the aero helps the most? Entry, mid, exit or just linear across all three?

Yes, my Aero has helped me mostly in the turns. It has helped me in entry, mid and especially exit of the turns. My mid turn speeds have increased on average 3-4 mph and my Total Gs are up from 1.2-1.4 to 1.6-1.8 G. I think I can sustain this better and possibly work on braking a bit less and hopefully would be able to improve upon this time as well. My straight line speed has remained the same I suspect largely from the drag from the big rear wing despite my exiting turns 3-4 mph faster.
I recently had Racers 360 evaluate my lap and largely the Pro Driver agreed that I could brake a bit less and carry bit more average speed in the turns. He also had some other recommendations of course and we will try those out in October.

Instructor
I think i could watch that all day, great lap. I totally agree with you on NASA and Chin. I've done both in HPDE 1 and they (staff and instructors) are great. Anyone going to the "night session" with Chin in December?

Yes. Sure. But understand that many of my Aero mods were done by me (a novice in my garage). First time I ever dealt with CF. My front splitter, full flat underbody from the splitter to the diffuser, CF fender flares , as well as diffuser were all made by me. So the fit and finish is not as perfect as a factory bought item. I bought the rear wing aftermarket and the front bumper is a CF AWorld Challenge ACP front bumper.
I will post pics later tonight.

Here are pics of the car as she sits right now. As mentioned above the splitter, side skirts, fender flares, fender cutouts, rear diffuser, and full flat under tray are all custom made by me. The rear spoiler, front bumper, and rear wing are after market. The car has several colors and looks like patchwork right now but getting wrapped next week. The side skirts are also unfinished and will need clear coating and one more layer of CF. The car should look more finished for October.

Looks good! I like doing my own work too, fun but time consuming. Good luck on getting the official time!

Thanks guys. I am surprised no one noticed or commented on the front fender cutouts behind the wheel wells and what that means. That was a bitch to deal with on a C5. The PCM is in the passenger fender vent area on the stock setup and the flap that covers the PCM cannot be easily removed without damaging the PCM when water gets in there so I had to have that relocated and then once I cut the fenders I had to fill in the spaces to make it look factory yet still removable as well as open up the passage for wheel well air to escape. Big pain to do all that but I think it turned out decent.
I cant wait to get her wrapped.
