Yeah... not too much axing here in Central Fla. My club (CFCA) is an NCCC club but we give all our sanctions away. Most of the axing is done in TB and north of Jacksonville. I haven't ax'ed in a couple of years now... strictly DE's and road-racing. There's plenty of that around here with all the different organizations (Chin, Safe, NASA, BPOC, etc).

Central Fla autocrossing is pretty active-------------
I don't know if I am going to the deland site or brooksville----------both are probably 4 hrs or 4+ hrs drive for me from south fla.
gulfcoast autocrossers has some pretty good events in Ft Myers
A bunch of vettes go to the Martin Sports Car club events in Tavares
I'll be there---------------------if Tavares is too far for you to drive from Daytona----------------------
then it's time to sell the vette, and buy a miata !

We have more Vettes(mostly C5's) than any other specific type of car @ our events--and our courses are fast & give a decent amount of seat-time.

To find about NCCC autocrossing in the Florida Region and throughout the South go to: http://www.ncccsouth.com
We do quite a bit in the Jacksonville area which isn't too far from Daytona.
Our next event will be in St. Augustine on September 18th.
Too bad the Daytona Beach Corvette Club is dead. That's were I got started in 1973.

That's what I meant... NCCC, versus SCCA and some of the other organizations. When I was autocrossing, I only did NCCC events, and there is next to none in this area. No offense, George.

I've never done a NCCC Vette club event,
But overall I would say the level of the competition seems to be greater at SCCA event, even at the local level----to say nothing of national level events.
If you like to autocross, and are not afraid of getting your butt kicked------------------------at first--------------then go to SCCA, Martin, and the like.
You will get better---------
And wipe the floor with those ricers---------------in a vette !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: central florida autocross?????? (I-SPEEED)
I-SPEED & Locke - I just spoke with Manny from NFCA. Although I'm not all that fond of the way some SCCA events are set up more for technique than speed - they are good for learning more about handling. It would still be good seat time in my Corvette even if the cones are shorter than my wheelbase.
Plus clocking some time at SCCA events can't hurt as far as moving up into higher speed events, too.
So I'd definitely like to make the one I-SPEED is mentioning. NCCC is "off" during the Summer anyway and this would be more practice for the fall.

I might be biased abt our club, but I regularly hit the limiter in 2nd, and have once been in third(albeit shortly), all in our 300'x600' venue
I guess that's why we attract so many Vettes, F-bodies & Mustangs

Point taken Cajun abt many SCCA courses, but...

I eventually got bored with the axing and started doing more and more DE's. I prefer everything about them except the price.
I'll be heading back up to No Va in October for the clubs annual Spooktacular event (9 hi-spd autocrosses on the Jefferson Circuit at Summit Point), where we have some of the best NCCC drivers in the country show up.

As far as autoxer's if you didn't have Popp, Onks , Strlniecks, Ames, Ramey, Strano, or even Landstra (who kicked my butt in Toledo)-----------
Then you didn't have nobody---------
I am talking recently, last 5 years----------
I wonder if the best NCCC driver who doesn't compete also with SCCA could trophy at Topeka in September (I doubt it !?!)
Just my opinion

Let me just say this, one of the individuals I am talking about went to a Justin Bell School last fall to get his SCCA road racing license, and he beat everyones times in the autocross, and that included all of the instructors, including his own who happened to be Shane Lewis. Mind you, this was in a car he had never been in (Z06) and a course he had never seen.
Not everyone who is good at this needs to prove themselves at Nationals. I don't think I would be going out on a limb by saying he would take you to the cleaners.

also the guys luvmy92 is talking about consistently beat a couple of locals that did do the Topeka thing.

Re: central florida autocross?????? (96LT1)
I don't know if locals who "do the Topeka thing" are the same thing as guys who trophy or win nationals.
BTW I once went to a Justin Bell run autox (Right before he went belly up)-------his school might have been great, but the autox that he helped put on sucked (most likely not his fault, because he doesn't autox.
The timer was a hand held stopwatch ! It ended when you came to a complete stop in a box marked by cones.
Neat ! This was most likely the way they did it before the invention of the transistor !
I suck at autox, but I'll bet money (under $50) that I beat a NCCC driver who has never done a SCCA regional, national, or local SCCA event-----------------------what the hell I'll bet $100--------------If I lose I lose---------If I win I'm right

I don't know if a Martin event would really count----------
Being that it's more a combination solo1 / solo 2-----------
Brooksville would probably count---(event on July 18)--I'll be there the 18th
I will take that bet at the Martin event if any NCCC guys are interested
All I really want to do is have some fun, and see other corvettes !
Maybe we will do a friendly $20 bet (I have more money than driving skill)
Really not much of either !!
Or just come on out for some g o d d a m n fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No bet necessary
