Default WTB 65-67 Coupe

Hello Everyone,

I am seeking a decent 65-67 coupe. I will be in Kissimmee in January and hope to bring one home with me. I have been reading the posts from those who are also looking for several weeks and I am impressed with the help that has been offered. Here is my question... does the car corral at the NCRS meet generally have a good selection of coupes? I am considering also registering as a bidder at Mecum, but hope to find one at the NCRS meet. I hate the idea of the 6% bidder's fee when I can hopefully put that 6% into a decent car at the NCRS meet.

Thanks everyone!

FireMedic,

There has always been a pretty nice selection of C-2's in the car corral. You will also find cars for sale at some of the Venders next to the corral and usually a couple of dealers will have 3 or 4 C-2's. Good luck with your search..

Default WTB 65-67 Coupe

Thanks Stephen and SiestaVette... regarding the specs and color... I am open to nearly any color, but like the silver and blues the most. Specs... this is really driven by my budget and like anyone, I want the "most for the best price." I have followed nearly every posting here from others looking to buy and spent countless hours surfing the web. I "thought" that I found a couple--even put a deposit on one and when I had it inspected, the under-carriage was rotted--the top of the car was beautiful. So, a friendly caution to my colleagues also looking-beware the ads. The '67 blue coupe in Atlanta was so bad, the company that listed the car refunded their 'non-refundable' deposit back to me. This search has been frustrating to say the least!

I hope to find one in Kissimmee next month!

Thanks again for your help!

It's always a risk so to have it inspected is money well spent though can be costly so always request lots of photos as many as possible, particularly undercarriage, door jambs, door strikers, lower windscreen pillars, etc.

You are right, Stephen-- it is money well spent! Had it not been for the inspector on one car and an NCRS friend on another, I would have taken a huge hit. This is why I appreciate everyone here in the Forum. I've been a member here since 2006 and cannot tell you how many times this site has helped me!

Whilst spending almost three years shopping for a coupe (oh, it's all too well documented !) I followed cars that didn't sell on eBay and contacted the owners. I was basically sold on a Lyndale Blue 350hp coupe until the NCRS inspector whom I hired informed me that the car had new trailing arms (great !). But they were attached to completely rotted rear frame kickups (damn !). After talking with the owner after the inspection he dropped his price from $40k to $30k ...... I do not own that car. Great money spent !

Make the best of it and enjoy the hunt !

Thanks Ray-- that is a heck of a testimony of the importance of getting a car inspected! I purchased a highly desirable Camaro several years ago and the inspection service also saved me heart ache!

I will bisting mine as well in the next couple of weeks. I am about 2 1/2 hours north of Kissimmee, just north of Jacksonville. 1965 L79 Coupe, older frame off, but still a very nice car you would not be afraid to drive.
