Aussie looking to buy a C1 from the US
Hi
I'm from Western Australia and am looking at buying a 1958-60 C1 from the US. I've researched shipping costs and customs clearance so I know what I'm in for from that angle.
Obviously it is not practical to inspect a range of vehicles so I am relying upon reputable dealers, photos, etc., and learning from the various NCRS and other forums.
The vehicles I have been looking at are https://www.proteamcorvette.com/Corv...73D/1073D.html and http://checkeredflagclassics.com/1960_CORVETTE_06.html. Does anyone have any history of these vehicles or experience with the dealers. One is said to be an NCRS restoration.
Regards
David

Welcome
Welcome to the forum. We spent 3 weeks in Perth, traveled to The Margaret River vineyards, then flew to Sidney, and on to Carnes on the barrier reef. You live in a wonderful area. Wonderful friendly folks, and those kangaroos running(jumping) wild. Cool. Like deer up here in Vt.
Hard time getting used to driving on the other side. Luckily our youngest Daughter was in Perth for a semester on an exchange program. By spring she knew her way around.
Good luck in your search. Many savvy folks here. If you find a car, ask someone here to look for you. I would NOT buy any car without seeing it or having someone you trust with knowledge about C1's look. I would not trust a dealers description. Forum members are very helpful.

Completely agree with oldgold49er, dealer descriptions aren't the best (I can personally attest). The first link in your thread I've found to be very high priced for what you're getting. Might consider trying to locate a buyer's agent who works on your behalf and not the dealer. A lot of this depends on what sort of C1 you're looking for: #'s matching, restomod, driver, project...? When I bought our '59, I wanted a driver that could tinker with and I've been very happy with it. You may want to take a look at a company called Buy A Vette over in Atlanta. They seem like they have a pretty good inventory and prices seem to range from the high side of fair to pretty high. Good luck.

I have a 62 driver. $41K USD. the car is in Colorado, I can e-mail lots of pictures. I also have it listed on here, just look under my username powerplantthom. You would be welcome to have anyone look at it for you, and there are several small garages in my area who could give it an inspection and a third party opinion. There are also a few Corvette guys on here from my area who might be willing to look at it for you and could also give you their opinion. It is a nice driver and needs a few small things. It is not a numbers match or a show car. powerplantthom@yahoo.com is my e-mail if you might be interested. Thanks

Not mine, ect. ect.ect. My wife is from NSW (Ballina) and has just returned from visting her Mum. JS is located about 45 minutes north of Indianaoplis. The Us Nationals is at the end of next month here. My daughter is front desk mangr. at a pretty decent hotel on the north side of town. I am sure she can hook you up with a decent price package. She and her Mum are still both citizens of Aussie and I hope continue to do so. Makes it easier for us to retire there. If you come, bring Crumpets and Vegimite, lol.

1960 Lot #F173 at Mecum Harrisburg, PA
I looked at a terrific 1960 for a customer last week. It was the right kind of car! An older professionally body of that looked and drove like it was supposed to!
It will be at the Mecum Auction on Friday July 25th. You can go on their web site and look at it. The lot number is F173. You can contact the Mecum office at 262-275-5050 and get registered as a phone bidder. If you are successful they can assist in the shipping component to Australia.
Let me know if there is any other car in the South Eastern part on the United States that you want an inspection conducted. I charge $300 plus expenses.

If you can spend a little more...
Here's one on Jim's site. Again, you'd be spending a bit more, but you'd be getting a bit more too! And it might be better to get the best you can, since its going to the other side of the planet....
