If you have the resources this is one of the best retomods I've ever seen. It went through Barrett Jackson Scottsdale in 2015 for $242,000.

https://www.barrett-jackson.com/Even...ERTIBLE-180663

It's for sale now on eBay.

No, not necessarily.

Resto-mod isn't defined by price. Yes a high end resto-mod can easily hit $200K, but it doesn't have to. The correct term for this car is high end resto-mod. That may be what the OP is thinking about, but it doesn't have to be.

This is the full custom chassis, painted to a high gloss finish so that the frame looks better than the paint job on most cars. Probably has an LS-3 or LS-7, blinged out to the max. Top quality leather interior, etc. etc.

How about a 58-62 Corvette body on a modified C3 chassis with a C4 vintage LT-1 engine and suitable manual or automatic trans. Or perhaps one of a modifed C1 chassis. You get 4 wheel disc brakes, independent front and rear suspension, and full options / creature comforts.

This version of a restro-mod is easily less than $100K, finished to show car quality.

The nice things about resto-mods is that there is room for players at all levels of income / price / complexity / bling.

Resto-mods are custom built cars, not necessarily expensive custom built cars.

Step one is to figure out what parts of a resto-mod are important to you.

Do you want lots of bling, the latest monster HP engine, etc.

Can you live with a nice LT-1 or perhaps LT-4 engine out of a C4?

My suggestion is to define the car you want first, then go looking for THAT car. Don't let the car define what you want.

I have seen some really beautiful resto-mods being built on this forum. I don't want to own any of them; there too nice to drive.

Here is one definition of Resto-Mod that I got off the net...

Resto-mod

A resto-mod is a classic car that has been restored, but modified with modern parts and technology. Aesthetically, the vehicle looks the same until you look under the hood or reach for the radio. When an owner decides to modify their vehicle it is usually to comply with emissions standards, incorporate safety features such as airbags, brakes, or in some cases, GPS systems. Further, many owners will upgrade the engines on a classic car so as to enhance performance and increase fuel efficiency. Regardless of what features are changed or added, the ultimate goal is to modify the classic car without significantly altering its outward appearance.
