Looking for 1957 to 1967 nice driver car
OK, I looked at the 1957 in Illinois area. Nice car but not quite what I am after. I also looked at a very nice 64 convertible that I think is overpriced by about $10K.
So, I am still looking for a 1957 to 1967 nice driver quality car.
Ideal car is an older restoration that now has a few miles on it. Original mechanicals not critical, but car must look and drive well.
I am more than willing to pay quality money for a quality car, but not willing to significantly overpay.
I could stretch my budget to $60K for the RIGHT car, but would be more comfortable around $50K.
All leads greatly appreciated. Email works best for me.

Ed,
If you could "stretch" your budget to $65K, I could remove the fuel injection (and install a carb set up) on my '59--- listed on this site.

You can have my 64 Fuel Injection conv. 2 0wner CA car for 68 K. Harryhood67@msn.com cell-574-361-5672
Harry;
I am still thinking about your car. I had not considered an FI car, but that one is a beauty. Only problem is how do I put A/C on an FI Car.

If you will sell it for $65K with the injector, I'll wire the money immediately (yes, this is wishful thinking).
I am still holding out for a C2, unless the "right" C1 comes along.

It can an has been done. In fact Bunkie Knudsen (GM exec.) had one built for him new. You would likely have to put a 57 air cleaner on or there may be an underslung compressor mount available or could be built. I have a 66 Charger with 440 with that type mount.

My '62 is about to be for sale. It's a very nice quality driver and I enjoy driving it. Mechanically sound, NOM engine (was originally a fuelie), I've repaired and updated several things on the car included a new rear end most recently after it got noisy on me. I'm wanting $50,000 for it.

OK, so I am not sure how best to edit this thread to clarify / narrow down my search criteria.
Lets try this....
1. I am definitely looking for a mid year car. The solid axle idea was a possibility that I have now eliminated, unless is turns out to be a 57-60 resto-mod in my budget. I want a car that I can enjoy driving.
2. Some colors / color combinations are more preferable that others, and these were discussed to death in the general forum area.
3. I am looking for an older restoration car that basically needs nothing but me to put my butt in the seat. Something like an NCRS Top Flight car that is now 10 year post restoration, and has been driven and enjoyed. It is no longer a trailer queen.
4. I am not looking for a trailer queen.
5. My budget is $50K, but I cna stretch to $60K for "the right car". The funds are immediately available, and I already have my wife's permission to "buy what you want, you only live once".
6. I would consider high horsepower cars, but I want my wife to be able to drive and enjoy this car as well, so lower power cars with some nice comfort options is a better choice.
7. The car must have A/C. What that means is that if it is not factory equipped with a fully function A/C system, that will have to be fixed or added (vintage air), and that will adjust the price of the car.
8. Car HAS to look good. I do not want a car that needs paint. I don't need perfect, but a 5 footer is OK. Perhaps a 8.5 or better out of 10 on paint. Same thing for the interior, it has to look good.
Yes, I know some of you will say "can't be done for that budget". I have already looked at / considered 1/2 dozen cars that meet the above criteria, but wrong color, or some other minor issue keeps me from pursuing that particular car. It can be done, and the right car will come along eventually.
Thanks so much for all of the leads that I have received so far. Please keep them coming.
