Default 1961 two owner corvette

For sale is my two owner (I am the second owner) white/red 245 hp 2X4 (only 978 built) ,4 speed car. This car is very original with mostly or all original paint and interior. The body fit is just as it was when it left the factory. Only the hood has been off. There has never been a trim piece of any kind removed from this car. The original bumpers are in near as new condition. The cove molding does have some dings. The car has 125,000 original miles. This is a hardtop only car. The original block spun a main bearing in 1978 and was replaced with a correct 519 block. Everything else is original to the car as it left the factory. That means intake, carbs, manifolds, shielding, etc is all original to this car only and not from other parts. The original jack and jack tools have never been removed or used and are still sitting in their dried up grease. I have complete documentation including the original cancelled check that this car was purchased new with. Most things are working on the car but some things are not. The car does run and drive but should be restored for dependable use. I have known this car my entire life. Please call me to discuss in more detail. This is a rare opportunity to own a car like this in this all but untouched condition. $65,000.00

Matt I would be glad to show you the car anytime. If you are like me it is always fun to see cars that I have not seen before.

Thank you Greg for the nice words. This is a great car for someone who wants a very original car that can either stay the way that it is or it can be restored. Can't go wrong either way.

Wow 1,200 views and only a couple of members have expressed interest. This car is nowhere near perfect but where can you find basically an unmolested car that can be enjoyed the way that it is or restore it to better than new. This is a running driving dependable car. Only 978 245 hp cars were built. That is many fewer than the 270 hp cars.
I would like to see this car go to someone that appreciates originality.

I can't speak for other members, but can tell you that I personally look at every car posted in this forum whether interested that particular year/style or not. Sometimes I check on further discussions, adding to the views. I'm probably not the only one!

The one I ultimately bought I probably looked at 20 times before even sending an inquiry. And that car was on here for months before selling.

Very nice car, good luck with sale!

Brian it is a hard decision but I do not want to be the one to restore it since it has always been this original since I have owned it, but it is time for a restoration. If you are interested or know someone please let me know.

Thanks

I appreciate the interest in my car but please no more unreasonable offers. If you are a serious buyer and are willing to come and inspect the car yourself or have someone local inspect it for you then please call me. I will work with anyone who is serious. I would love to see this very special car go to a collection where it can continue to be preserved or to someone who would fully restore it to its as new condition. This is a very rare opportunity to start with a totally unmolested car with original paint and most interior. How many more opportunities like this are going to come along.

Default Two thumbs up- original body

I agree! I donít like them to become condos mimicking other condos in housing. Iím a purist in some areas, like ln body look, especially bolt ins. But I am an odd c1 owner in that mine is an old drag race car, and chassis only has 13,000 miles. Gone is the bored 283, then the dz 302 z/28, then a guy who bought it put a 327 in with goodies like headers, blow proof bell, intake and carb and mild cam. Exactly what everyone would want to do in that era. But he switched rear from 4:10 to 3:08. Itís eaten one clutch already! Such is life! Micksnip
