C2 driver or project
I have always wanted C2, but never really had the ability. My parents bought a 63 SWC brand new, white/red interior , 340HP, but that was before I was born. they only owned it about a year and traded in on a 64 GTO. I now find I have some disposable income (but not enough for show quality, full resto) and I have been looking at the pictures of their '63, and figured I'd try to see if I can find something now...
I prefer a coupe, but a roadster would not be out of the question. Hardtop would be nice.
Any year. I'd love a '63 SWC, but I doubt that's going to happen. I'd like to have disc brakes, but that's something I can add myself.
I have no problems with: NOM (generic 350?), or originally a base motor car, automatic transmission (with knee issues, I actually prefer the auto, maybe a TH350 or OD swap?), mildly flared/enlarged wheel openings, "third" taillights, incorrect hoods (my favorite is the 65/66 BB hood) or even later 65/66/67 front clips on a 63/64 (if done nicely).
I do NOT like the fixed headlight conversions, huge flairs or molded-in rear spoilers. But it depends on the asking price.
I do not care about "paint" (peeling, flaking, faded beyond repair, or even some custom 1970s/1980s color), but a sound body, frame and birdcage would be needed.
I am a decent "mechanic", so I don't mind if the car needs mechanical work (brakes, engine, transmission, wiring), or even if it needs interior work and weatherstripping. I'd like to have all the really expensive/hard to find trim and pieces though...
My goal is to have a nice driver, even if I need to do the work myself. I actually like doing the work myself, but not the "body" work...
I'd prefer at least a roller, and something that could move and stop under its own power would be great (even with a rod knock or grinding brakes) just so I could move it around the driveway and garage under its own power.
I'd prefer something that has all the glass and trim.
I'd also really like something West Coast, ideally Northern California (with kids, I don't have much time to travel to look at potentials).
Thanks,

How much do you have to spend?

It all depends on the vehicle... I'd love to be under $30 for a driver needing work (NOM, auto, peeling paint, flares, torn seat, etc, etc)... less for a project, but also depends on everything...
A NOM, 64 roadster with drums, originally a base-engine car, modified wheel openings, etc would be worth less than a 65/66 with an L79 (NOM) with discs, etc... Options, etc... paint colors
I have seen quite a few relatively stock in the $37k-$45k range, and honestly some are pretty nice looking, but that's over my self-imposed price range...
IF I fell into a GREAT deal (like a '63 SWC or a real Big Block or Fuelie, yeah right), I could liquidate or finance and spend a little more...

but not really what I am looking for. IMO, that is definitely out of my range, and seems a bit overpriced for a 327/300 (at least for my area), but then again, it is complete with factory side pipes, very "original" car... But at $55k that's why I am staying away from "Matching Numbers", etc

More than you want to spend but I think this car is fairly price for what it is and looks awsome.

There are some good deals from time to time so you have to have your funds/financing in place to jump on one when you see it to beat the dealers from them.

Melting Slicks
This car is sold. I looked at it last week. Missing almost every expensive piece of trim, basically a bare body, rolling chassis, one piece front end, and both rear quarters replaced. Major money pit.
