Looking for 194376S101974
Back in the early '80s my parents went through a divorce, and as all divorces go, property gets divided up. The short version of this story goes like this...... ‘66 black/black 327 coupe 4 speed goes to Fort Worth Texas with said father and car shortly thereafter disappears. No knowledge of it selling, being stolen or sold for parts with a million questions going unanswered as he passed away in '95. Suspicions abound as to what happened to this car, but I am trying to locate my childhood corvette I was to one day own. Maybe someone out there wants to make things right with the universe and karma. So if anybody has any information on this car (perhaps vin has been replaced), I would truly appreciate any help locating. Also, I do recall the rear getting an extra set of taillights…. so it may have this as a distinctive feature or they have been filled in.

To help jog memories, this particular car had an extra set of taillights added sometime in the mid seventies.
Good luck

I spent a few years restoring a Harley don't know why I sold it, money I guess, but I really miss it. I began looking for my old 1946 Harley Davidson Knucklehead, found out it ended up in Japan. Hope your search goes better than mine but these type of things rarely end up with a happy ending.

Was the title or any other paperwork found in your Dad's belongings?
About 10 years ago, I purchased a 66 vert from a guy going through a divorce, he insisted on Cash, no bank check, no bank wire, he wanted no record of the transaction.
(Of course there was a record of the transaction when I transferred ownership with the DMV.)
Because I was purchasing this car with a big wad of 100's, I was a little leery as the transaction was also taking place in not one of the better neighborhoods in NJ.
I went to my local PD and explained the situation, They ran the VIN, and it came back in the sellers name, free and clear and I completed the purchase
I bet if you went to your local PD, and explained the situation, they would run the VIN.
They probably will not give you the owners name, but could tat least tell you if the title was ever transferred out of your fathers name.
That would be a good start

Know this is probably not what you want to hear, but that decade after the car went away was a great one for exporting cars to Europe.
checking overseas car clubs is a really good idea, and they keep very good records. Be persistent and keep searching the vin and the web...

1. There are a bunch of Corvette Clubs in that region in the link below. Contact them and ask to be connected to older guys who might remember the car and have conversations with them. Also look at all the pictures on their web pages. A black/ black coupe is fairly rare. Ignore the Autonation link.
Join NCRS and ask at the closest chapter and on the website. This might be the best tip.
2. Try to work any family connections on your Dad's side. Was there a will? Did he remarry? How about where he worked? Somebody knows and will remember. Ask your Mom about connections your Dad had. I doubt anything shady happened, he just sold the car for cash and it's not registered right now. Fairly common.
3. There are a couple guys who specialize if finding old Corvettes. You are way ahead of the game with this as you have the VIN. If you are interested in hiring one of them PM me and I will dig. around for their contact info
