Default WTB - 66 or 67 - was so close...

Hello,

Wanted to share a quick "almost there" experience I had a few weeks ago. I'lll keep it short. A 67 convertible, 327/350, matching number, correct color, excellent shape corvette pops up for sale on facebook marketplace for 42K....I know, seems like a scam, but I reached out and sure enough it was for real. The guy inherited the car, wanted nothing to do with it and a quick sale. Of course he was blown up from the ad and already had dudes lined up to buy it (he had to take down the post after 1 hour because of too many hits). Long story short, I didnt get it. It was sold to someone faster. I have literally been having nightmares about this. Probably went to a dealer that will put it on his lot and sell it for 60K.

This was what I've been saving my money for almost 10 years (i refuse to take out a loan for a vehicle my wife would refer to as a "toy")

Anyway, I have 45K to spend and I know it may take another 5 years for this situation to happen again. Hate to sound like a baby, but I figured if anyone understands it would be guys on this forum.

I was down this road before also and it took a while to get over it . I learned that you have to be prepared to pull the trigger fast and have the green stuff ready. A second opportunity came years later and I knew what to do.

It has happened to me a lot. It is annoying and it sucks. vwtdi said it right- you have to pull that trigger immediately. Does it have to be a L79? What color are you looking for?

I would guess the '66 at $37,900 is a scam or the guy needs money in a hurry. I know what you mean on near misses. Had a guy show me photos of his father-in-law's '67 Impala SS 427 4 speed convertible red on red car that had been setting in a barn for almost 30 years. They were selling it as the gentleman had passed away and they had no interest in an old car.It looked pretty good and I arranged a visit only to find out they sold it to a neighbor for $5000. Their neighbor ripped them off big time. Even though the car no longer ran it was worth way more as there weren't too many made. When you find the right car sometimes you have to act fast.

The 37900 car is not a scam. The issue with it is the car was stolen at one point in its life and the VIN tag and trim tag was removed ... Then the state of PA issues a new VIN number .
