Default Where is Neutral Safety Switch

My reverse lights don't work, I tried looking for the neutral safety switch on the transmission but cannot find it. I read it is connected to the shifter, could it be under the console ? Does anyone have a picture or diagram showing its location ? or just a idea where I should look ?

Located on the transmission on a 4-speed car, located on the shifter inside the car on a Powerglide car. On the automatic, it is only accessible by removing the shifter from the inside after first disconnecting the linkage from the transmission. Which do you have auto or manual?

Not a problem, you'll have to remove the console cover to get the shifter assembly out.
